Benefits Specialist (Disability Leave of Absence and Benefit Programs)The mission of this position will be to provide employees and management with expertise in helping them manage disabilities that impact the workplace. This position will be in Atlanta at the GPC Corporate HQ and will report to the Medical & Health Management Supervisor at GPC Corporate Headquarters.This position is primarily responsible for managing the Disability leave process for employees who covered by the company’s leave of absence policy, are seeking short- and/or long-term disability benefits and are therefore subject to possible return from leave.Responsibilities:

Frequent interface with the vendor (MetLife), employees, management, HR/Labor, physicians, and others as needed to lead this process.

Responsible for the Essential Job Functions (EJF) in compliance with Rehab Act Section 503 and ADA as well as other disability-leave laws.

Will serve Georgia Power, Southern Company Services, Southern LINC, and Southern Power.

Manage all leave of absence cases for GPC, SCS-Atlanta, LINC – Atlanta while employee is on LTD.

Manage the GPC Worker’s Compensational Educational Assistance Program

Provide support to employees, management, and business partner concerning leave eligibility and inquiries.

Educate employees on leave process and procedures.

Coordinate and effectively manage the leave of absence process with timekeepers, management and HR Direct

Track and follow-up on leave of absence issues, due dates and deadlines.

Participate in calls with management, case consultants, legal and business partners on complex leave of absence issues.

Provide oral and written communication to employees and management throughout the leave of absence process.

Accurately file and track all DLOA correspondences and records in ServiceNow.

Accurately complete the employer section of the LTD application

Generate quarterly LTD leave accrual report for accounting.

Education

Formal post-secondary degree in Business, HR, or related field is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year work experience in Benefits, Human Resources, customer service, compliance, or a closely related field required.

Experience in supporting workers comp, disability leave, compliance and/or benefits programs preferred.

Experience preferred in Oracle Cloud, Paysource, electronic records, and Microsoft Office products (specifically, Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Knowledge & Skills

Must be a team player, committed to customer satisfaction, self-starter, display initiative, eager to learn, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, ability to maintain confidentiality, attentive to details.

Effective time management skills are required to manage multiple activities and projects simultaneously.

Ability to build relationships quickly along with excellent interpersonal/communication skills and desire to work in team environment to manage cases.

Demonstrate a positive attitude, high degree of self-motivation, dependability, and responsiveness to departmental needs and needs of employees and management (customers).

Location :These positions are based in Atlanta at The GPC Corporate HQ. The work schedule will be hybrid with 3 days per week in the office.
