Are YOU ready to join us?DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION:Performs specialized research echocardiogram procedures and ensures completeness and accuracy.

Coordinates research activities within the area.

Demonstrates and trains others in specialized echo techniques, and study protocols.

Performs safe operation of ultrasound equipment to ensure high quality for diagnostic scans.

Performs, analyzes, and documents results of 2-D, M-Mode, and Doppler Echocardiograms as ordered by a physician to identify possible cardiac disorders.

Schedules and prepares patients for exams.

Maintains supplies and equipment.

Provides quality patient care to patients undergoing procedures in the Echo Lab.

Demonstrates complete knowledge of anatomy and physiology and adapts individually each echocardiographic exam depending on patient's disease.

Demonstrates ability to complete 2D, 3D, Doppler, and stress echocardiograms on general cardiology, adult congenital and heart failure patients.

Demonstrates experience in preforming color and pulse wave tissue Doppler echocardiography to define mechanical dyssynchrony, estimation of filling pressures from non-invasive echocardiographic parameters.

Demonstrate ability to train and teach cardiology fellows and staff the newest methods of tissue Doppler echocardiography on state of the art echo machines (Vivid 7, Philips, etc.).

Must perform echocardiograms on patients enrolled in clinical trials of heart failure.

Able to communicate and explain various procedures to the patient/family.

May coordinate activities in the area in the absence of the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of an accredited program for Echocardiography and/or registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Cardiac Credentialing International.

Minimum of four years clinical experience and three years in the area of Cardiac Sonography.

BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium):20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasksENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasksAdditional DetailsCall, weekends, and holidays may be required.Position focused on education and research, specifically relating to Structural Heart.
