Job Title: CNC Programmer

Job Description: Plans and performs a variety of machine operations utilizing numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS · Responsible for total machine setup, programming, operation, maintenance, and safety. · Ability to interpret complicated drawings of tooling, fixturing and machine components. · Perform a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances on CNC and Non-CNC equipment. · Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine machining sequence and dimensions of finished work piece. · Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture properly and in a timely manner. · Selects and installs cutting tools for lathe and milling machining centers. · Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. · Ability to adjust machine feeds, speeds, and/or tooling to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions/conditions out of tolerance while operating in a safe manner. · Ability to work with little supervision and direction. Must be self motivated and able to meet timelines as planned. · Ability to assemble tooling and/or material requirements to complete jobs, send quotations to outside vendors as needed, and follow up on outside contracted work until completion. · Responsible to maintain and clean tooling/parts/equipment, and to order replacement or PM items as required. · Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. · Must have own basic hand tools and measuring devises. Machine specific tools will be provided and will remain property of ABI. · Ability to measure workpiece for conformance to specifications. · Ability to work without drawings at times to help get inoperable machines/tools back into production quickly. · Must be able to work frequent overtime as needed. · Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Certification from technical school for basic machining, fabricating, and programming. Minimum 2 years experience programming and operating a CNC machining center and CNC Lathe. Minimum 5 years experience operating other machine shop tools and equipment (mill, lathe, surface grinder, etc). Minimum 2 years experience with FeatureCam or comparable program. B) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS -NONE- C) HARDWARE/SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE CNC Programming (FeatureCAM) Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word D) LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. E) MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. F) REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. G) OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Employee must be available to work overtime. Must have good mechanical abilities and be able to set up machines and maintain tooling. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do the following: stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms and stoop. WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
