Construction Controller Opportunity (LUV)

Description Robert Half has an opportunity for someone with a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department to become a Controller at a reputable Real Estate Property/Facilities Mgt company. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Based in the Brookhaven, Georgia area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.Your responsibilities in this role

Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Requirements

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

MUST HAVE: Construction Accounting Experience- Job Costing, Percentage of Completion

Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

Month-end closings experience desired

Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

Great attention to detail

CPA or MBA preferred

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
