DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION: The clinician functions as a clinical expert and role model in assuring proper planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a specific patient population and also provides leadership for day-to-day unit operations such as staffing, scheduling, budget planning, and cost containment. Demonstrates expertise and leadership on the role components of Practitioner, Teacher, Manager, and Researcher. Takes charge of special projects or performance improvement activities. Facilitates conflict resolution. Identifies and takes appropriate actions for unacceptable practice and behavior. Assists with completion of staff orientation, staff competency, and development of staffing patterns. Assists in maintenance of departmental and staff documentation. May assume supervisory responsibility. Monitors and records patient's blood pressure and EKG during procedures, notifying physician of changes. Circulates during procedures. Circulating duties include patient education, alleviating fears, monitoring patient's condition, treating patient under physician direction, and assisting scrub person and physician. Properly documents case events. Scrubs and functions as first assistant to physician. Effectively communicates with patients, family and other health care team members. Keeps patient and family members abreast of patient's progress. Demonstrates strong interpersonal relationship skills in interacting with co-workers, leadership, and other health care workers. Promotes teamwork. Acts as liaison in interdepartmental and intradepartmental activities. Assists in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiovascular and peripheral systems of patients to aid physician in diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disorders in the Cardiac Cath and EP Labs. Provides quality patient care to patients undergoing invasive procedures. Prepares patient for test and explains procedures. Conducts tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular systems using a variety of specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, and laboratory instruments. Anticipates possible problems or complications and responds appropriately. Trains others in techniques and procedures used in the lab. Processes all required documentation, has knowledge of all supplies and the contents of each stockroom. Completes electronic procedure report within the Cardiology information system to ensure billing of procedures. Completes billing sheet for proper charging of procedures and supplies. Maintains knowledge and location of current inventory. Ensures that procedure rooms and carts are stocked. Accountable for all supplies utilized during procedures.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 4 years of interventional cardiac cath lab experience; Registered as an ARRT with post primary category of cardiac interventional radiography or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist). BCLS and ACLS required; Minimum work expectation of 40 hours per week. Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology with clinical concentration in Cardiac Cath Lab.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
