Due to the recent events caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC Epidemiology Task Force is responsible for identifying and tracking COVID-19 cases, spread and containment. This position will give support across several teams within the task force.HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:Coordinate with CDC OCIO’s office and Cloud Team designing and refining in hosting systems and applications.Establish process for managing and mitigating solutions defects and issues.Use technology best practices to produce appropriate documentation at every phase of the process consistent with HHS/CDC Enterprise Performance Life Cycle and Capital Planning requirements.Engage stakeholders in development and testing of the technical solutions.Utilize latest technologies available in the CDC enterprise to develop innovative solutions. These include but not limited to Python/Pyspark, SAS, CDC cloud environments (Databricks, SAS Viya, Azure Dev Ops etc.,).Specifics to CORVD RESP-NET programsData Science/ManagementWork with ESP data managers to design and implement pathogen specific data pipelines and transform data into actionable insight.Develop highly reliable data pipelines from both batch and/or real-time data sources in Azure Databricks PlatformResponsible for designing tables, storing procedures, views, and functions.Develop procedures and scripts for data migration and dissemination.Create custom reports.Develop documentation (user guide, technical updates, job flowchart, algorithm use etc.).WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a focus on Azure Databricks.Strong programming skills in Python and PySparkExcellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL programmingExperience with designing and executing machine learning models and applications.Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)Critical thinker and problem-solving skillsTeam playerGood time-management skillsGreat interpersonal and communication skills must be able to discuss the requirements effectively with the client teams, and with internal teamsExperience working with states or other domestic jurisdictions awarded CDCWHAT GDIT CAN OFFER YOU:Challenging work that makes a real impact on the world around youInternal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career401K with company matchDiverse, highly collaborative teamsProfessional development, education assistance, certification and training opportunities#GDITHealth#GDITPublicHealthJobsWe are GDIT.
