Review the results of prospective client due diligence investigations for issues which might negatively impact the firm; perform adjudication of adverse background investigation results for new hire, contingent worker, campus hire, intern, and Americas DEP (Direct Entry Partner) and partner promotion candidates; conduct internal employee misconduct investigations and perform other significant FWS (Firmwide Security) assignments

Examine the results of prospective client due diligence investigations for adverse or derogatory information which might expose the firm to legal, regulatory and/or reputational risk and work with engagement teams and risk management to resolve issues

Assess adverse background investigation results for new hires, contingent workers, campus hires, interns and Americas DEP and partner promotion candidates; work closely with OGC, (Office of General Counsel) Ethics and Compliance and HR to resolve outstanding issues

Team with OGC, HR, Ethics and Compliance and other firm groups on internal and external confidential investigations of employee and partner misconduct involving policy violations, inappropriate conduct, and criminal activity; gather evidence, conduct interviews, review documents, and prepare investigative reports

Confer with federal, state, and local government officials on individual matters as necessary

Supervise staff responsible for overseeing the administration of the prospective client due diligence and employee background check process

Qualifications:

Minimum ten years of recent experience handling internal investigations and/or complex litigation matters in a law firm, large corporate environment, or government entity

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in the U.S. required

Extensive investigatory experience and ability to expeditiously identify and analyze issues and provide legally sound recommendations

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product in a fast-paced environment

Thought leadership and strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations, and the highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with individuals at all levels; outstanding analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills
