WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Division Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) is a member of the Division leadership team and assists the Division Vice President(s) (DVPs) to provide overall management of their Divisions and the regions therein. The DCOO shares in the accountability for achieving Division performance targets for mission; volunteer services; and operations, including budget development/monitoring, development of employee and volunteer personnel, implementation of real estate transactions, facilities management, fleet management, and Information Systems. The DCOO delivers against solid performance goals established for Humanitarian Services and supports the DVP by being a change agent to move the Division and regions through cultural and business change. The DCOO may also be called upon to perform Regional Reviews, manage specific projects, either as pilot programs or for enterprise-wide implementations. As the second in charge of the Division, the DCOO acts on behalf of the DVP during his or her absence.WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:

Consolidated Functions: Serves as the Division Liaison with national headquarters units, including Finance, Human Resources, Real Estate Services, Fleet Management, and Information Systems. Ensures that the Division and regions follow corporate policies and procedures related to carrying out the field responsibilities related to these functions.

Division Goals: Assists DVP to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate performance of achieving Divisional goals in support of corporate goals, related to mission delivery, volunteer services, fund raising and operations.

Leadership Development: Serves as coach, mentor and resource for regional and Division leadership. Consults with regions on board development as a year-round process. Working with the DVP, plans/implements Division meetings and training/development programs for regional leadership. Participates in Division/region succession planning activities and assist in determining development plans for ensuring career growth opportunities for future leadership positions. With colleague DCOOs, plans, facilitates and updates New Executive Leadership Orientations held at National Headquarters several times a year. With DVP and appropriate Division Human Resources Manager, provides input on plans for informal and formal personnel performance improvement as needed.

Finance/Financial Development: Working with the DVP and Division Finance team, develops the annual expense and capital budgets; participates in the monthly Operations Reviews. May participate with the DVP and Division Fundraising Vice President (DFVP) in regional Fundraising Reviews and fiscal year Financial Development planning.

Change Management: Working with the DVP, plans for and supports change management activities for regional teams to embrace cultural and emerging organizational priorities. Included may be the performance of regional reviews to assess how well regions are carrying out the mission, volunteer engagement/

retention, and providing operational support. Develops/presents Regional Review recommendations to the DVP and regional leadership and provides ongoing support to implement the recommendations.

Project Management: Will lead and /or participate in Division or enterprise-wide projects and pilot programs.

Acting DVP: In the absence of the DVP, either short or longer term, may serve in this capacity and will report directly to the President, Humanitarian Services during the time in this role.

Interim Regional Executive Officer: In the event of a vacancy in an RCEO position, may serve for a short time in this capacity. For longer term needs, the DVP will appoint an Interim RCEO; the DCOO assists with the onboarding/goal setting and continuing consultation with the Interim during their assignment.

Pay Information: For those candidates located in Connecticut, Colorado, or California, New York and Washington, the salary range for this position is: $128,000 - $170,000Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the job or employee resides. The stated salary range in this posting is an average and may not be reflective of your individual circumstances. We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location.WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Non Profit Management, or similar field/equivalent experience. MBA or equivalent a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years work experience with at least 5 years in a non- profit organization or service organization preferred. Previous American Red Cross experience at the chapter level desirable.

Managerial Experience: Minimum of 7 years directly related to managing and supervising personnel.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to plan, prioritize, organize work to maximize performance. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with attention to detail. Strong project management skills. Decisive, innovative and proactive decision-making with strong vision and implementation skills as well as well-developed crisis management and time management skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstrated

interpersonal skills, including negotiating, coaching consulting and influencing others. Refined critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative team environment; ability to lead/influence teams to establish and adjust to current and emerging priorities.

Other: Proficient with Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Travel: Extensive travel is required throughout the Division and also to leadership meetings several times a year at National Headquarters or other locations throughout the United States.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic).
