Job Duties:

Coal Program Management:

Coordinate coal, railcar, and transportation procurement.

Evaluate bids for cost, terms, and conditions.

Implement corporate risk management policies and Dodd-Frank compliance reviews.

Trading and Scheduling:

Execute hedges and assist with hedge system administration.

Buy, sell, and schedule physical natural gas to support generating facilities.

Manage fuel oil trades as needed.

Industry Monitoring:

Stay updated on energy news, industry publications, and utility IRPs.

Assess impacts on OPC and provide strategy recommendations.

Co-Owner Interaction:

Serve as OPC's backup representative on the Scherer Fuel Committee.

Maintain communication with Georgia Power (plant operator) as well as other co-owners.

Billing and Reporting:

Validate and investigate complex billing reports and coal stock ledgers.

Resolve discrepancies with Georgia Power.

Process Integration:

Develop integrated processes among internal functions.

Provide technical support on coal, gas, and oil issues.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in creating transportation, gas price, and coal budgets.

Conduct quarterly coal forecasting.

Dispatch Rate Communication:

Set and communicate monthly dispatch rates for OPC-generating units.

Required Qualifications:

Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience : 1-3 years of relevant energy industry experience (coal, natural gas, utility operations). Experience with coal procurement, natural gas supply, and pipeline assets is preferred. Knowledge of electric power generation and co-op structure is a plus.

Equivalent Experience : 2 years in an analytics-heavy role such as engineering, planning, forecasting, finance, audit, or accounting.

Specialized Skills :

Familiarity with co-op structure and natural gas/power market economics.

Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong Excel and programming skills preferred.
