Position Overview: Petco is looking to add a Director, Distribution to our evolving team of Supply Chain experts. This position responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the distribution center's operations at our Braselton GA DC. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate exceptional leadership and partners as our Petco partners are the key to success. The key aspects of the role: Ensure efficient and effective processes for receiving, storing, and shipping goods, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, cost control, partner engagement and creating/maintaining an environment of excellence led by a high performing leadership team. Key Responsibilities:Operational Leadership:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the distribution center team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize efficiency, productivity, and accuracy within the distribution center.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Team Management:
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among the distribution center staff.
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of supervisors, managers, and front-line employees. Key areas of accountability include partner retention, engagement, creating an inclusive culture of excellence.
Identify opportunities for improvement and in partnership with HR create an environment of accountability within the leadership team to drive an outstanding partner experience & results for the network.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement plans when necessary.
Inventory Management:
Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate tracking, counting, and reporting of stock levels.
Collaborate with the inventory management team to optimize inventory turnover, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to distribution center operations.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure accurate picking, packing, and shipping of products.
Address and resolve any quality issues or discrepancies promptly and effectively.
Cost Management:
Develop and manage the distribution center budget, including labor, equipment, and operational expenses.
Identify opportunities for cost savings through process improvements, technology upgrades, and resource optimization.
Process Improvement:
Continuously evaluate distribution center processes and workflows to identify opportunities for streamlining and automation.
Implement best practices and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, such as logistics, procurement, and customer service, stores and other support organization to ensure seamless end-to-end supply chain operations to create an excellent experience for our Petco partners and customers.
Maintain strong communication with senior management, providing regular updates on distribution center performance and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in distribution center management, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
In-depth knowledge of distribution center operations, inventory management, and supply chain best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address operational challenges.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across different levels of the organization.
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software tools.
Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in a distribution center environment.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
