This opportunity allows partial telework with management approval.Maine CDC’s Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ID Epi) Program is looking for a Senior Health Program Manager to provide leadership for informatics epidemiology staff. This team is responsible for finding technical solutions to human problems and collaborating closely with our programmers to improve Maine CDC’s informatics systems. In this position, you will support the informatics and data modernization objectives within the ID Epi Program including tracking grant related requirements, submitting federal progress reports, and providing informatics support to our field and central epidemiology teams. You will do this work collaboratively with the informatics team which includes programmers, informaticians, and epidemiologists. You will work with the managers of the other ID Epi Program teams to identify problems that could be solved through technical solutions, and work with the informatics team to brainstorm, plan, and implement solutions to make our work more efficient, complete, and accurate. Core Responsibilities:As a key member of the ID Epi team, your core responsibilities will include: Facilitate informatics epidemiology team grant objectives including writing workplans, monitoring progress, reporting to federal CDC< and monitoring budgets Supporting Maine’s surveillance systems including training, maintenance, and enhancements Help develop training materials and protocols Participate in data modernization projects Coordinate with other team managers to identify areas for improvement Supervise a team of informatics epis including conducting weekly check-ins and completing annual evaluations Coordinate with public health partners including federal CDC, local hospitals and providers offices, and Maine’s Health Information Exchange Participate in and contribute to overall ID Epi Program planning and evaluation activitiesMinimum Qualifications: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).A Bachelors Degree in Public Health or Health Sciences, Health Education, one of the Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration, or Education - AND - four (4) years experience in health program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation - OR - an equivalent eight (8) year combination of education, training, and experience.Preferred candidates will have: Master’s degree in public health, Information Systems, or related field and two (2) years of relevant work experience. Preferred candidate will also have knowledge of: Principles and practices of epidemiology and public health surveillance. Statistics and statistical software. Data collection and management. Coding languages (SAS, R, Python, SQL, Java, etc.). Health messaging (HL7, FHIR, ELRs, eCRs). Surveillance systems including the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS), ESSENCE, Immunization Information System (ImmPact). Data visualization software (Tableau, ArcGIS, Power BI, etc.). Infectious diseases, including risk and transmission. Medical terminology. Word processing software, email, internet use, spreadsheets, or analysis programs. Ability to: Analyze public health data. Draw logical inferences from data analysis. Pay attention to detail. Organize, disseminate, and report public health information. Be flexible and reprioritize during the workday. Work as a team leader and team member. Communicate with local partners.
