Job Description

Platform Engineering's mission is to provide IT Platform integrity, Engineering Design standards, Deployment planning & Execution, Metrics analytics & reporting, Capacity Planning, project charter assistance and Tier 4 support escalations. Platform Engineering provides technology leadership, policy, procedures, standards and implementation skill sets for the IT department. Primary Responsibilities: The Infrastructure Engineer Level III can expect mid to high complexity in the technology field. The successful Level III candidate can expect to spend the majority of their time delivery project based designs and implementations while working with Infrastructure Architects to help create the strategies and roadmaps for our core IT infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have experience and qualifications for planning and managing monitoring infrastructure, including:
  • Skill for analyzing and troubleshooting operating system, networking, configuration, and performance problems.
  • Basic understanding of Monitoring Engineering best practices.
  • Experience executing system deployments (AWS, private cloud).
  • Experience automating system administration tasks with scripting tools (Python or shell preferred).
  • Fundamental understanding of Internet networking protocols: TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, HTTP, SMTP.
  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools such as Ansible, Splunk, App-D, Zabbix, LogicMonitor, Moogsoft, etc.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical staff.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred in Computer Science, Software. Engineering or other related engineering discipline or 5+ years of real work deployment experience in core infrastructure technologies, including compute, storage, networking, databases, security, and management.
  • Hands-on experience with deploying and maintaining systems in a containerized environment (public or private cloud)
  • Understand performance and availability requirements and have experience working with Software Engineering to define deployment, configuration, and monitoring requirements
  • Ability to create meaningful metrics and alerting for service health monitoring
  • Reducing manual effort through automation with scripting or programming languages
  • Skilled with configuration management and automation frameworks
  • Proficiency driving Root Cause Analyses to meaningful improvements
  • Leading troubleshooting efforts with production/non-production systems
  • Experience working in a high-growth environment
  • Cybersecurity understanding (e.g., Infrastructure, application, system, or compliance)
  • Knowledge of network protocols and deep packet inspection
  • Experience with Web Technologies (Apache, AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, HTTP, SOAP, XML)
