Lead Safety and Construction Manager

This OpportunityWSP’s Applied Solutions group is currently seeking a Lead Safety and Construction Manager to implement, monitor, and evolve the safety and construction program at project sites throughout North America. The position requires a knowledgeable self-starter who can balance priorities and work with various stakeholders to maintain compliance with regulatory, client and internal HSE and Project Specification requirementsYour ImpactReports to the Applied Solutions Safety Director with daily direction provided by the Project or Program ManagerAt a minimum, the SCM is responsible for: Review work plans and safety SOPs to ensure they meet WSP and Project specifications Develop, conduct, and track/record daily and monthly required safety briefings Develop task-specific Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and work methods for hazardous work Ensure workers have proper levels of safety training and coordinate overall task-specific safety training where required Maintain safety training database by entering all required training in a timely manner Ensure proper personal protective equipment is available and used by work crews Review all subcontractors JHAs prior to procurement of services to ensure subcontracted work methods address identified and potential hazards and comply with Wood and client safety SOPs Conduct regulatory and customer required safety training Obtaining Qualified/Competent Person status for scaffolding, fall protection, etc. Interface with managers, supervisors, team leads, and team members on safety and project implementation aspects of work efforts to promote open communication Conduct or support occupational and perimeter air monitoring programs Collect and document site Postings and OSHA required information for state and corporate reporting Respond to and report incidents and near-misses and coordinate incident investigations Conduct behavior based safety observations and prepare Lessons Learned on best practices Conduct, document, and report all required monthly and annual safety audits Monitor project work to ensure efficient implementation of the project schedule and scope, monitor budget, quality and staff/subcontractor performanceWho You AreRequired Qualifications 7 - 10 + years construction/field H&S experience, ideally on Federal projects Ability to support construction projects throughout the US Ability and willingness for extensive travel in the US Experience in managing the health & safety of facility O&M craftsmen, preferably at a Federal government site, and environmental professionals performing contracted services Strong technical knowledge and background in regulatory standards and safety engineering Experience in performing multi-task projects with tight completion deadlines Good working knowledge and skills using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Demeanor that promotes collaboration, teamwork, safety consciousness, open-mindedness with positive approach to problem solving Experience in developing and presenting safety training and technical specification materials Experience in managing the training requirements for construction/trade workers Experience in assessing work hazards and developing safe work procedures Experience in briefing work crews and building occupants in the safety, quality and production aspects of maintenance/construction work Experience or willingness to learn Quality Assurance and Construction Management support preferred Training in OSHA safety and/or industrial hygiene programs related to, construction, and environmental/infrastructure field work Must pass background check and client mandated drug testsPreferred Qualifications CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training and/or EM 385-1 40 hour training and experience 40 Hour HAZWOPER training with current certification CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens Construction related competent person/safety training (Scaffold, Fall Protection, Excavation, Forklift) Army Corp of Engineers, Quality Control Management (USACE-CQM) course or equivalent training and experienceAbout WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
