Understand and conduct research and public health evaluation activities
to develop and assess new diagnostic methods and improve existing
diagnostic methods to allow for more rapid response to potential
influenza and other pathogen outbreaks and the development and

or without notice.Microbiologist II Responsibilities Include:Initiate
and execute scientific research and/or studies.Analyses problems and
applies theoretical techniques and solutionsDevelop standard operating
procedures (SOP) s, technical reports, and manuals.Develop and apply
immunologic assays to improve detection of infections and vaccine
responses and conduct analysis of the results generatedConduct
laboratory testing in vitro and in animals, develop tools to assess
cellular immune responsePrepare reports, publications, and presentations
as well as provide editorial assistance as needed for the reporting
relevant scientific findings internally and externallyPerform high
complexity testing which may include conducting research and diagnostic
tasks in Biosafety Level 2 Enhanced/Plus (BSL2E) and Biosafety Level 3
Enhanced/Plus (BSL3E) laboratories.Provide overarching lab support,
maintenance, logistics, inventory, and compliance support for the
laboratories in accordance with current laboratory proceduresDocument
and maintain records of all laboratory activities including experimental
results, laboratory inventories, reports, queries, and dataTrain junior
scientists and postdocs in the laboratory on immunological, virological,
and animal handling techniques.Ability to work both independently and as
a teamComply with all requirements for laboratory safety and
securityPerforms other job-related duties as assignedMicrobiologist II
Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:BA, BS, or MS and
approximately 4 years of experienceExperience with molecular biology,
microbiology and/or virology techniquesExperience working in a
molecular/microbiological science laboratoryPrior experience working
with viruses, animal models, and or influenza is a plusKnowledge of
basic molecular biology techniques including ELISA, RT-PCR, NGS, flow
cytometry and cloning.Knowledge of laboratory and safety regulations
including CLIA, ISO and or OSHA standardsExcellent organizational,
documentation and record keeping skills.Ability to follow strict timing
guidelines for all scheduled operations and experiments.Work in a BSL2E
and/or BSL3EAbility to accurately collect, collate and enter data into a
databaseExperience with data analysis software to include Microsoft
