Operational Communications Specialist - Corporate AffairsThis position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring the successful new team member to be in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Additional in-office days may be needed based on business needs.We are seeking a new team member with a MINIMUM of 3 to 5 Years experience!The Operational Communication Specialist serves as a strategic business partner to Georgia Power’s Management Council and internal clients. This individual contributor role is responsible for providing the communication planning and implementation support needed to advance functional, strategic, and operational goals across the company. This position reports to the Operational Communications Manager.The successful candidate will be a strong writer who develops issue- or event-specific communication plans for both internal and external audiences, ensuring client communications align with company strategy and branding. This person must be able to understand complex business messages and deliver them to broad internal audiences in an easy-to-comprehend and effective fashion.The candidate will work closely with internal clients and regional contacts to provide support on key initiatives; organize internal and external events as needed; create messaging for multiple channels, including Circuit, email, intranet sites (SharePoint), video, and social media platforms; and contribute extensive editorial assistance to online publications.The role requires strong writing, copy-editing, and PowerPoint presentation skills, as well as the ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.The position will require some travel across Georgia.Qualifications

Experience: 3-5 years in Corporate Affairs/Communications or media environment.

Industry Knowledge: Experience in the electric utility industry is a plus.

Executive Support: Preferred experience supporting executive-level (C-Suite) communications.

Education: Related undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communications, marketing, or public relations preferred.

Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and meaningfully to diverse audiences across the organization.

Interpersonal Skills: Highly effective interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively across an organization and with various stakeholder groups.

Writing Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to write for a wide variety of formats, including speeches, talking points, presentations, print publications, websites, video scripts, correspondence, magazines, fact sheets, Q&As, and business communications.

Project Management: Successful experience in planning, project managing, and implementing communication projects.

Motivation: Highly motivated with the ability to assess communication needs and drive appropriate responses with minimal supervision.

Time Management: Ability to handle tight deadlines, multiple tasks, and shifting priorities effectively.

Skills: Strong listening, creative thinking, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

Initiative: Takes initiative, ownership of assignments, and personal responsibility.

Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Technical Skills: Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required; working knowledge of Excel is a plus.

Additional Technical Skills: Technical experience with SharePoint, HTML, and Adobe Applications (Photoshop, Acrobat, and InDesign) is a plus.

Travel: Willingness and ability to travel.

Language Skills: Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken) a plus.

Principle Responsibilities

Client Interaction: Serve as a Corporate Affairs point of contact for internal clients, interacting with, informing, and influencing them on impactful company and brand messaging.

Executive Support: Work with executives, officers, directors, and managers to collect and support communication initiatives.

Creative Storytelling: Write stories and develop graphics and presentations that illustrate our culture and identify and develop story ideas that highlight the company’s focus areas and values, enhancing employee engagement Writing samples will be requested if selected to interview.

Content Creation and Collaboration: Collaborate with department contacts to create and produce high-quality content, including speeches, talking points, presentations, video scripts, and other forms of communication that support company goals and business unit priorities. Research, write, edit, proo, and distribute print, online, and video communications to targeted internal and external audiences.

Multi-Channel Communications: Create compelling communications for various channels, including Circuit, email, video, intranet, external websites, and social media.

Message Delivery: Understand complex business issues and deliver messages to internal audiences in an easy-to-comprehend and effective manner.

Editing: Edit the work of other departments that prepare executive materials in draft form.

Media Relations: Proactively partner with media relations to identify media opportunities and garner positive coverage throughout the state.

Crisis Response: Participate in crisis response and communication (e.g., storm response).

Emergency Training: Participate in emergency nuclear communication training and exercises.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all communication materials meet company standards and explore new ways to support business units and engage employees.

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
