Operations Manager Job Description

The Operations Manager in an electronics manufacturing company is responsible for overseeing the production process, ensuring efficiency, and meeting quality standards. They collaborate with and often manage various departments, such as engineering, procurement, materials requirements planning, and logistics, to develop and implement strategies that optimize production and reduce costs.

The Operations Manager also manages a team of supervisors and technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations. They monitor production schedules, analyze data, and implement approved recommendations for process improvements. Additionally, they ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

To excel in the role of Operations Manager in an electronics manufacturing company, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field. They should have at least 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the electronics industry. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as the Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a team and collaborating with various departments.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control standards. Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving is also crucial for identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

Participate in strategic planning sessions, and execute / implement strategies and tactics to achieve corporate financial and overall strategic objectives.

Foster strong relationships with all corporation functions to ensure collaborative and efficient execution of operations imperatives.

Monitor all internal systems for accuracy and compliance with company rules, standards, expectations, and applicable laws.

Understand the company’s financial reports and implement corrective actions as required.

Drive plant’s lean manufacturing effort.

Control significant manufacturing projects, plan and schedule facility assignments, and set priorities.

Establish, maintain and ensure compliance with quality processes & tools to support operations team and ISO/AS quality management requirements.

Maintain the asset management program (calibration and preventive maintenance) for both engineering and operations equipment.

Must be able to work closely and communicate with other departments.

Must be able to interface with regulatory agencies for site audits.

Optimize manufacturing operations with focus on LEAN principles and other process improvement tools.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management in the electronics industry

Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent degree

Strong leadership and communication skills

Knowledge of and actual experience implementing and / or working in a production environment using the ISO9001 and / or AS9100 Quality Management System.

Knowledge of and actual experience managing equipment assemblers, technicians and engineers in an electronics manufacturing facility.

$90.000 to $120.000 per year, $31.25 per hour paid every two weeks, plus operations incentive plan based on the following criteria:

Incentive is based on achievement of financial Gross Profit Objective

Achieving Sales Objective

Gross Profit Objective = 62% of sales

Incentive Payout earned begins at 90% of financial Gross Profit Objective

Incentive Payout = Employee Base Salary X Incentive Payout Percentage

The Incentive Payout Percentage is 10% of base salary beginning at 85% through 100% of the Gross Profit Objective. The Incentive Payout Percentage increases linearly as the rate at which the Gross Profit Objective is exceeded. This provides strong incentive to the operations team to continuously improve product cost and support sales in shipping orders on time at the highest product quality.
