QA Automation Engineer with Tosca

Role OverviewThe software QA automation engineer ensures high-quality software delivery by planning, implementing automation for quality assurance testing. Responsibilities include developing test plans, creating test cases, writing test automation code, and reporting results.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work with management, development, QA, & functional SME's to understand the scope to be automated.
  • Review product requirements, functional and design specifications to determine and prepare automated test cases.
  • Plan, create, execute, and automate test cases using Tosca, working with business partners, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Resolve manual testing concerns and complex automation scripting and tool usage
  • Provide a practical approach to complex product testing, specifically in the areas of the automation of test cases for the purposes of regression testing.
  • Prepare reusable functions, which improve the robustness, re-usability, and maintainability of test scripts.
  • Work closely with other QA team members to automate the execution and verification of reports created by the various company products.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce testing time and effort by automating repeatable tests.
  • Enhance and maintain the test automation framework.
  • Be a creative and proactive thinker and make use of current technologies to provide extensible automation infrastructures.
  • Ensure that problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner, including working with infrastructure resources if needed.

Qualifications

Education
  • Technical degree preferred
  • Tricentis Tosca certification (Automation Specialist Level 1 and 2) Required
  • At least 7 years of total experience within a technology (IT) environment
  • At least 5 years of total experience in design, planning and execution of system testing strategies/tactics to ensure software quality at all stages of the SDLC/Agile effort

Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on test automation script writing experience (UFT/Tosca)
  • Minimum of 7 years hands-on of manual testing experience
  • Experience working with Client/Micro Focus Quality Center (ALM) or qTest, Selenium, Eclipse
  • Minimum of 3 years of SQL and XML
  • Active senior/expert-level expertise with developing automated test scripts and leads or has led a team of QA testers
  • Minimim 3 years of designing and implementing test plans
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Waterfall, and Agile
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify, isolate and document defects

Skills
  • Development using scripting tools & languages; specifically Tricentis Tosca
  • Configuring/Setting up QA Technology environment
  • Application Testing, Mobile Testing, Security Testing, Smoke Testing, System Testing, etc.
  • Producing Testing Documentation
  • Experience with at least one or more programming or scripting languages – Java Script, VBScript, VB, etc
  • Hands on experience with writing test plans and test cases, and documenting software defects and anomalies
  • Defining and supporting IT standards, procedures, and policies
  • Presentations and technical discussions as the expert/senior-level role
