The
Sr. Enterprise Application Engineer - Configuration Management Database (CMDB) will help design, implement, execute, and improve processes to ensure the consistency and accuracy of our enterprise wide CMDB platform. The CMDB platform is the foundation our telemetry, observability, and operations capabilities are built on. The role of CMDB Platform Engineer has a real impact on our ability to visualize and measure the health of our industry-leading automotive solutions. This role will work closely with IT partners to maintain the collection of configuration items (CIs), the workload catalog and the relationships that exist in both. Core Responsibilities- Develop and execute processes, establish KPIs, create and distribute reports and dashboards to ensure the overall health and quality of our CMDB data
- Define and promote best practices and guidelines to ensure continuous improvement in discovery accuracy, coverage, and effectiveness
- Optimize solutions for reliability, performance, and cost/value
- Coordinate the discovery and ingestion of configuration items within our environment utilizing multiple tools and capabilities including monitoring, ITSM, service-mapping, etc
- Provide technical expertise and domain knowledge of tooling and practices related to the inventory and documentation of our infrastructure and application environment
- Maintain proper relationships as defined in the SACM processes; this includes (but is not limited to) Services, IT components, and other required relationships
- Assist and provide support for teams to on-board their environments into our CMDB platform and Workload Catalog
- Engage with enterprise technology and product delivery teams to help design, develop, test, and deploy solutions to meet their inventory, reporting, and observability-enablement needs
- Provide automation-based solutions for maintaining and generating reports from our CMDB environment
- Actively research, share, and implement learnings from team members, partners, and industry resources
- Handle backlog of cleanup efforts to retire CIs and resolve duplication of CIs
- Ensure standards are followed for technical excellence using a governance process

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field + 4 years of engineering experience.
- Foundational understanding of ITSM and CMDB concepts and terminology
- Foundational understanding of ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) console, discovery tools and CMDB principles
- Experience building and distributing ServiceNow reports and dashboards providing visibility into system performance and KPIs
- Knowledge of ServiceNow Common Service Data Model
- Knowledge of Infrastructure components
- Scripting using JavaScript, Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, RegEx, SQL, etc
- Ability to design and implement integrations using ServiceNow IntegrationHub and custom integration using REST API etc. to enrich CMDB
- Hands-on experience with discovery of AWS and Azure cloud resources
- Ability to perform ServiceNow platform development using ServiceNow APIs, ServiceNow Workflows, UI Pages, UI Macros, Business Scripts, Client Scripts, UI Scripts, UI Actions, UI Policies, Script Includes and Security Rules
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server development to support datamart and associated integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and troubleshoot the configuration management environment
- ServiceNow administration including discovery and service mapping
- Configuration Management certification preferred
