Prime Video (PV) is changing the way customers watch TV and movies. With Prime Video, customers have instant access to a massive library of popular content across hundreds of devices, including smart TVs, game consoles, mobile devices, browsers, and streaming media players like Fire TV and Apple TV. Prime customers can watch thousands of titles included with Prime; customers can also subscribe to popular channels like HBO and Starz as well as buy/rent thousands of new release videos. We recently launched Prime Video in over 250 countries and territories worldwide.

The PV Voice team is new team within Prime Video. We are building voice experiences that make it fun and easy for customers to interact with Prime Video. With voice, we can make it nearly effortless to find a video, browse for content, get recommendations, and control the playback experience. We believe that voice has the potential to fundamentally change the way customers interact with our service by eliminating friction and enabling delightful and intuitive features that are only possible with voice.

We own the Prime Video experience on Alexa-enabled devices like the Echo Show and Echo Spot, as well as the Prime Video voice experience on other devices like Fire TV, Smart TVs, tablets, game consoles. We work closely with teams across Prime Video and Alexa to invent and launch innovative new features and experiences.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about elegant software solutions, software quality, customer-centric products, and agile development processes. You will look at problems beyond the borders of your immediate team, and thrive on the necessity to think at multiple levels, from strategic and tactical to driving operational excellence and system availability. You are able to coordinate cross-org projects, field difficult questions, and collaborate effectively to drive positive outcomes for our customers. You are adept at designing systems that are able to cope with the challenges of the highest scale and the demands and expectations our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Demonstrable success in launching projects and delivering results.
  • Experience of managing software engineering teams and developing technical direct reports.
  • Hands-on and technical: Solid systems design, problem solving, ability to code, and contribute to on-going development and development practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep architectural expertise in the design of large-scale, highly available, low latency, distributed systems and software
  • Experience with voice-based products and technology, particularly related to voice design or personification
  • A proven ability to learn and adapt to new, complex development environments

• The pay range for this position in Colorado is $184,200 - 250,900 (hr/yr); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $184,900 - 250,200 (hr/yr); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
