Sr. Network Analyst in GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

Performing systems engineering, design, analysis, and maintenance of wireless and wired networks . Researching, designing and implementing wireless networks, including the definition of applicable engineering specifications and resource requirements for network hardware and software . Provide recommendations for wireless network optimization, additions and upgrades to meet the business's requirements Conducting and documenting radio frequency (RF) coverage and site surveys . Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is desired ( ManageEngine Ops Manager , Ekahau, Airwave, Spectrum, NetScout, etc.) Documenting network infrastructure and design . CCNA Routing & Switching or CCNA Wireless preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field preferred. 3 years experience supporting network or voice operations.

Maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
  • Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data .
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Other Requirements:
  • Experience with mainstream Unified Communications Platforms including, Jabber, Lync and Skype for Business.
  • Strong skills in Cisco unified communications and collaboration architecture, experience with Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom infrastructure and cloud based solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is desired (Solarwinds, Airwave, Spectrum, NetScout, etc.).
  • Understanding of data center facilities management, equipment racking and cabinets, network cabling (structured, patching, metallic,.
  • Experience with network security practices and devices (Cisco, Palo Alto, Checkpoint), data center and low-latency network infrastructure (Cisco, Arista, Juniper), packet sniffer operation and packet dissection (Sniffer, Ethereal, tcpdump, libpcap).
  • Deep comprehension of networking concepts including network design principles, data flow determination, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, etc.
  • Solid understanding of advanced networking technologies, virtualization technologies, and solutions including MPLS, virtual route forwarding, virtual device contexts, multicast routing, policy-based routing, ether-channel, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, VPN tunnels, WAN Optimization, etc.
  • Position may require industry certification and skills training requirements.
