Our client, a banking company, is seeking a System Administrator / engineer

Job Summary:

Our Team: Mainframe Computing (MC) is a technology enabler for the business by providing a strong, resilient, and stable platform to host and enable business innovation/growth in our lines of business and global locations. MC consists of experienced administration, operations and engineering staff required to support the platform. In addition to flexible hours, the Firm enables its staff to work remotely. The mainframe engineers work with the latest hardware and software technologies. The IBM z platform and the mainframe disk and tape technologies are frequently refreshed across our datacenters.

Job for a NATURAL System Administrator / engineer:

  • Be responsible for installing and supporting a broad range of NATURAL and NATURAL-based Software AG (SAG) and other third-party vendor products to provide a stable technical infrastructure upon which the business depends.
  • Be responsible for the conversion of products between major releases.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a strong technical background in all mainframe technologies with extensive hands-on experience with TSOs ISPF and z/OS utilities.
  • Have a high level of knowledge of all SAG products, and an ability to work with them in a highly customized environment.
  • Require ability to install the products, code/revise customizations using a variety of technologies (including Assembler/Cobol/CICS), and debug complex system problems (including dump reading and performance and tuning).

Skills Required:

  • NATURAL System Administration, Utilities and Installation is essential
  • NATURAL Programming would be useful
  • Expert level ISPF, z/OS Utilities and JCL is essential
  • CLISTS, Rexx would be helpful
  • CICS knowledge will be helpful
  • Assembler language knowledge would be an advantage
  • COBOL language knowledge and ability to modify existing code would be helpful
  • Having worked with Agile and having used JIRA would be an advantage
  • Ability to determine Root Cause Analysis in complex systems is essential
  • Analytical thinking
