Client: Morgan StanleyPosition: Technical Business Analyst (Mainframe background)Location: Alpharetta, GADuration: 12 + Months We are looking for highly talented technical Business Analyst and Solution Engineer with prior mainframe development background to help accelerate our modernization initiatives. In this role as an experienced mainframe and legacy modernization analyst, you will spearhead hands-on analysis of current legacy platform used for trading, middle office and back-office processing of Mutual Funds. You will help synthesize and document current state while identifying opportunities for reengineering and rearchitecting. You will work with engineers in the squad and senior management to help solution the future state while providing clear current state functionality. You will work on variety of game-changing projects and help shape the future of Mutual Fund Trading platform. Primary Skills• 8+ years of hands-on technical experience solutioning for mission critical, large scale transaction processing and batch applications on Mainframe systems.• Extensive hands-on experience in all phases of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, enhancement, migration and testing of applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, TSO/ISPF, procs, Batch Scheduling, Change man, Debug Facility.• Strong experience in relational databases, well versed in File Handling and Database interfaces inside COBOL programs. Expertise in writing queries and retrieving data including SPUFI, DB2 File-Aid.• Expertise in creating /working/understanding JCL and its procedures for defining datasets, running Cobol programs, conditional processing in job steps.• Experience delivering projects from initial requirement gathering to integration testing, release and final documentation.• Ability to navigate complex code batch/CICS programs and synthesize, business functions and dependencies.• Excellent project documentation skills which include creation of functional specifications (as is) and mapping solution specifications (to be), application control documents and project design documentation.• Experience in functional knowledge of Life cycle of a Trade with respect to Trading, Middle Office or back-office functions. Mutual Fund experience is a plus. Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor’s in computer science, Information systems or related 4-year degree• Experience in leading the assessment, discovery, and planning phases of mainframe migration projects.• Experience with mainframe data migration, and with integrating distributed systems applications with applications on the mainframe.• Good exposure to mainframe code analyzer tools like Rational Asset Analyzer, SMART IS and knowledge of legacy modernization techniques and related tools and approaches.• Experience with 1 target application modernization programming language (i.e. Java) will be good to have
