Job Description

As a Test Engineer, you willworkwithin EMC department performing regulatory EMC and RF testing both independently and as part of a team. This position is for 2nd shift, 3pm- 11pm

  • Competently performs EMC and RF testing of products to determine compliance with applicable domestic or international regulatory standard(s). Adhere to established test plan.
  • Core tests include, but are not limited to: radiated emissions, conducted emissions, electrostatic discharge, radiated immunity, conducted immunity.
  • Record test data, technical information and other details. Report and track defects found during testing. Analyze test data and generate test data sheets and reports.
  • Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed
  • Set up and operate test equipment including but not limited to spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, multi-meter, surge generator, power supply, signal generator, environmental chamber, electrostatic discharge simulator. Understand the operation and maintenance of test equipment.
  • At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS policies and procedures.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • AS/BS/BET in electrical engineering, electronics, electrical technology -or- equivalent education/technical training plus a minimum of 1-year directly related EMC/electronics industry testing experience.
  • Knowledge of EMC standards is a plus (e.g. IEC 61000-4-x; ANSI C63.4; ANSI C63.10; ANSI C63.26; EN 300 328; EN 301 893).
  • Experience with electronic equipment and 3-phase power is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively at a high level of written and verbal English.
  • Quickly learn and apply new skills.
  • Work well independently and as part of team; provide support/mentorship/training to other team members.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Establish and maintain professional relationship with customers and fellow team members across roles, levels and functions.
  • Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and excellent service ethic.
  • Attend work regularly and predictably.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel as required by business needs.
