User Experience Researcher

Are you enthusiastic about user research and taking a human-centered approach to building experiences? As a UX Researcher, you will:

Demonstrate excellence in design research

Help define and drive the future of BlackRock design through human-centered and data informed research.

You can thoughtfully and accurately understand the research questions that partners are looking to tackle. You have deep experience across methods and multi-method studies and understand when and how to apply the accurate methodology, scope research approaches, lead fieldwork, conduct in-context interviews and observations, and communicate insights.

Lead design research engagements with our partners

In this role, you will apply your passion for design, craft, and experimentation to execute research and design strategy processes, mentor hardworking team members, and collaborate with product, business and engineering teams to build innovative experiences across BlackRock's products.

Convey research insights and complex concepts simply, in human terms

You are a hybrid thinker equally moving from data-informed insights to qualitative approaches. Most importantly, we are looking for a self-starter who is excellent at communicating and partnering closely with many cross-functional teams to execute industry-leading UX Research at BlackRock.

Partner with cross-functional teams

User Experience (UX) is at the forefront of how we build intuitive, innovative, and appealing products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users' needs, behaviors, and emotions to yield insights that inform product strategy and guide the design of the experiences we design. We collaborate closely with designers, product managers, software engineers, and many others to seek solutions to complex challenges and craft powerful experiences that highlight our products' unrivaled capabilities and personalities.

Qualifications:

Background:
  • Many exciting researchers also come from a variety of backgrounds or former roles including journalists, anthropologists, analysts, and other industries working with an array of differing populations and ways of thinking. We are interested in your ability to demonstrate deep experience connecting with people, surfacing and articulating insights, creating and executing strategies based on insights.
  • A portfolio is required for this position.

You Are:
  • An absolute professional who leads by example, treats peers and partners with respect, and seeks and gives constructive feedback
  • An outstanding communicator, able to convey research insights and complex concepts to a wide diversity of audiences in simple, human terms
  • Comfortable switching seamlessly between self-directed independent work and highly collaborative teamwork
  • A lifelong learner, enthusiastic about experimenting with new research methods and pushing your own craft in new ways
  • Deeply curious and highly attuned to human behavior
  • Enthusiastic about Design Thinking and employing a user-centered approach to designing experiences, products and services

Your Experience includes:
  • 3-4 years of industry experience, working on a UX Research, experience or service design, or product teams.
  • Experience with planning and leading research activities such as interviews, group sessions, observations, and synthesis sessions
  • Experience working in an Agile environment is a plus
  • Experience working in Finance or Enterprise technology is a plus
