Our Dental Hygienists perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, and work

with Dentists to provide guidance, education, and treatment plans for patients.

Responsibilities

Successful Dental Hygienists will be expected to accomplish the following:

Patient screening procedures such as;

Assessment of oral health conditions

Reviewing of the health history

Oral cancer screening

Head and neck inspection

Dental charting

Taking blood pressure and pulse

Taking digital radiographs (x-rays)

Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth

Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)

Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth

brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)

Counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health

Making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to

evaluate patient treatment needs)

Performing documentation and office management activities

Minimum Education and Experience

Registered to practice in Hawaii as a Dental Hygienist

Ability to build and sustain trust and comfort with patients

Excellent chairside manner and customer service skills

Excellent organization skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

1 year of experience, will train
