About Us:
Kamaʻaina Hale Apartments is an emerging nonprofit dedicated to the mission of providing affordable housing to the Hawai'i Island community. We are a small, ʻohana-oriented team committed to providing safe, stable housing for local families. This role helps us maintain housing compliance with our State Housing Agency the HHFDC.
Job Summary:
The Compliance Specialist handles tenant income and asset recertifications, maintains compliance files, and supports audits and inspections. This is an in-person role requiring strong administrative skills and a high level of accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Conduct and schedule annual recertification interviews
Collect and verify documents for income and asset eligibility
Maintain organized, accurate tenant files (digital + physical)
Communicate with tenants clearly and professionally
Collaborate with management and compliance consultants
Use property management software (Yardi a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
Required:
2+ years in LIHTC, HUD/Section 8 compliance, or property management
Strong clerical and administrative experience
Proficient with office software and databases
Preferred:
Yardi software experience
Bilingual (Tagalog, Ilocano, Spanish, Marshallese, etc.)
Familiarity with HUD, HHFDC, or IRS compliance guidelines
Training Provided:
Willing to train on HUD income and asset certification processes. However, candidates must prove they have a strong administrative foundation and be comfortable using software systems.
