Tūtū and Me - Virtual Team (Hilo, HI)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Lead the teaching team in preparing and implementing a developmentally appropriate and culturally rich curriculum for a Family-Child Interaction Learning (FCIL) virtual program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

● Lead and support the teaching team by preparing and mailing monthly learning materials to families, implementing lesson plans in a virtual learning environment, completing home visits, and submitting all reports by expected deadlines;

● Model, teach, and engage with enrolled families in a professional manner that encourages caregivers to be their keiki’s first and foremost teacher;

● Help review screenings and assessments that support the developmental needs of participating keiki and caregivers;

● Facilitate team meetings that create high-quality, culturally appropriate virtual lesson plans for keiki ages birth to five years old;

● Record and submit debrief sessions with the team;

● Develop daily work routines that support productive and positive team dynamics;

● Participate in regular briefings with the Site Manager to discuss program updates, challenges, and proposed solutions.

OTHER DUTIES:

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to, completing all forms and documentation, such as reports related to grant objectives, professional development evaluations, and data collection for the program.

WORK HOURS:

● A 10-month work schedule that closely aligns with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education’s paid leave calendar;

● Monday through Friday, hours vary by site and are determined by the Site Manager;

● Consistent and reliable attendance;

● Some events and professional development may take place on evenings or weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

● Office setting;

● Travel in personal vehicle to home visits, meetings, and events;

● Travel to the neighbor islands and continental U.S. may be required to meet the needs of families enrolled in communities across the state.

EQUIPMENT USE:

Program and personal vehicle, office equipment (computer, printer, copier, scanner, bluetooth, laminator, shredder), site and facility equipment.

Physical:

● Must be able to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time;

● Requires lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds on a regular basis;

● Indoors: Exposure to normal office environments, A/C, fans, etc.

Communication:

● Exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff, administration, and community partners via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;

● Able to address participants individually or in groups through speaking, demonstrating activities, singing, dancing, and signing;

● Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills;

● Properly handle and maintain highly confidential information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED:

● Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and six (6) months of experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families;

● Must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability.

PREFERRED:

● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva publishing, and virtual meeting platforms;

● Able to troubleshoot computer and internet connectivity issues and assist caregivers when they experience issues;

● Familiarity with databases such as QuickBase;

● Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values.
