RESPONSIBILITIESI. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides oversight on assistance to principal investigators with funding searches and proposal preparation, review and submission, including electronic submission of applications for extramural support on behalf of the Medical Center. Responsible for post-award management of extramural and intramural grants, contracts and programs and works with principal investigators, Compliance, Finance and Purchasing as appropriate.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. Continuous: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods. Frequent: walking, sitting, lifting and carrying usual weight of 5 pounds. Occasional: standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, twisting body, lifting and carrying weights of up to 10 pounds, pushing and/or pulling weights up to 30 pounds with assistance, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object. Operates a telephone, computer, typewriter, printer, fax, copier.III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education/Certification and Licensure:

Bachelor’s degree in a life science or related field AND five (5) years of research management, sponsored project pre-award and post award administration or health care administration work experience; OR

Master’s degree in a life sciences field or related field, AND three (3) years of research management, sponsored project pre-award and post award administration or health care administration work experience.

Certificate from the Society of Research Administrators International (SRA) in research administration and management, financial management or similar preferred.

B. Experience:

Five (5) years of A-133 audit work experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of federal granting organizations, state granting programs and private foundations.

Demonstrated knowledge of research regulatory processes (human and animal subject protection, biological safety, conflict of interest, research misconduct).

Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of NIH granting processes, pre-and post-award, rules and regulations.

Demonstrated computer skills in PC and Macintosh platform (Word Processing, Citation management programs, Graphics, Data management, fiscal programs).

Published in biomedical field preferred.
