Employment Type:Full timeShift:Night ShiftDescription:The Certified Sterile Processing Tech performs decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization and storage of re-usable surgical instrumentation. Prepares surgical case carts and responds to requests for instrumentation and /or supplies for surgical procedures. Ensures all Quality Assurance documentation is completed pursuant to the standards of sterilization, The Joint Commission, and SARMC requirements.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Maintains CRCST or CSPDT certification.

GOOD TO HAVE:

One (1) year experience as a Sterile Processing Tech Prior experience in a hospital setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Cleans, inspects, and packages surgical instruments, specialty sets and other re-usable instruments following all surgical procedures following regulations established by OSHA, The Joint Commission, and SARMC. Assures the sterility of processed instrumentation following manufacturer's guidelines and department policies.

Operates sterilization equipment including cart washer, washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, Sterrad sterilizers, ETO sterilizer, heat sealers and Sterris machines.

Utilizes ABACUS Instrument Tracking System to perform job duties.

Builds surgical case carts timely and accurately.

Demonstrates ability to locate instrumentation and equipment IFUs on demand.

Orders and restocks the surgery department with supplies and instruments.

Participates on at least one process improvement project annually or manager approved special project.

Precept new employees on the practices of Sterile Processing

Provides at least 1 in-service per year relating to Sterile Processing practices.
