Documentation Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Writes, edits and/or proofreads internal and/or external communications and publications. Utilizes technical and business writing principles, as well as web-based technologies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL LEVELS:

  • Maintains and integrates documents into knowledge management application.
  • Works with stakeholders to develop business requirements for communications/publications.
  • Maintains and updates existing reference materials and/or policies.
  • Conducts and/or participates in departmental meetings to ensure knowledge management resources meet end user content and usability needs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Documentation Specialist I

Experience: 2 years' technical and business documentation experience, or any combination of work experience with writing, analysis, and knowledge management software.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Accountability/Complexity:

  • Works independently on moderately complex projects/assignments and seeks guidance on projects/assignments of higher complexity.
  • May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Documentation Specialist II

Experience: 4 years' technical and business documentation experience, or any combination of work experience with writing, analysis, and knowledge management software. Documentation Specialist II

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Level Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conducts ongoing review and updates of documents based on best practices for user-oriented resources and department processes.
  • Utilizes technical and business writing principles as well as object-oriented technology or other design related or graphics applications to support user needs.
  • Oversees and gives direction to less experienced employees.

Accountability/Complexity:

  • Works independently under limited supervision.
  • May manage projects requiring the responsibility of delegating work and reviewing resulting work product.
  • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area.
