Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Electrochemist to work in our Materials Separations and Analysis department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the Department Manager.The Senior Electrochemist will provide technical leadership to the Sustainability Through Electrochemistry (STEL) Group within the Materials Separations and Analysis Department of the Energy, Environment, Science & Technology (EES&T) Directorate at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).This group oversees and leads nationally recognized electrochemistry research, development, and deployment (RD&D) in multiple technology areas.Responsibilities Include:1) Coach junior staff members in the separations group and the electrochemistry group.2) Conduct modern research in electrochemistry that involves investigations that range from fundamental to applied science.3) Be a nationally recognized expert in any one or more established electroanalytical and spectro-electrochemical techniques.4) Be a team player and develop new electrochemistry technology advances through diverse teaming with other experts in the Department and the broader EES&T Directorate.5) Implement research in the laboratory environment at both the bench-scale and pilot-scale.6) Disseminate research results to the external technical community and DOE.7) Identify new funding opportunities and capture new funding for new RD&D work for the Department.8) Participate in mission/strategy sessions with other senior R&D leaders at INL.9) You will contribute to talent development and recruiting, including recruiting new staff, retaining existing staff, guiding and mentoring staff, and identifying professional growth opportunities for group members.10) You will ensure R&D conducted within the research group is performed safely, within budget parameters and the identified scope.Minimum Requirements:

Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Physics, or a related physical science field with 6 years of relevant experience (PR0400) or

Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Physics, or a related physical science field with 8 years of relevant experience (PR0500)

U.S. Citizenship required.

Electrowinning, advanced redox leaching

Electrosynthesis of organic materials, electrosynthesis of inorganic materials

Electrophoretics, electroosmotics, electrokinetics, separation and movement in an electrochemical field

Electrically enhanced membrane processes, filtration processes, electro-dialysis

Redox enhanced crystallization

Redox chromatographic separations

Electrochemically enhanced solvent extraction, electrochemically enhanced hydrometallurgy, electrochemically enhanced solvometallurgy

Electrochemical processing of materials for beneficiation of feed streams

Electrochemically guided or enhanced separations using electrically active sorbents, complexants, MOF’s, ZIF’s, COF’s, CP’s, POP’s, PAF’s, ionic liquids, etc. Electrically-switchable porous host matrices
