Service Writer

Independent auto repair shop is looking for a great Service Writer to join our team. The position will be a dynamic role with a broad set of responsibilities and required skill sets. It will include direct customer contact and building relationships, scheduling, estimating, selling service, selling parts, and working with a great team. We need someone that is fun, friendly, a great communicator, exceptionally organized and enjoys working with a team.

Job Description and Duties

Provide world class customer service. Greeting customers by phone and in person

Answer phones, sell, and schedule service appointments

Work with technicians to provide a quick and accurate diagnosis to the customer

Provide complete and accurate written cost estimates for labor and parts.

Educate customers on the full scope of services we offer

Open and close repair orders (listen and ask questions to fully understand the customer's service request and clearly document it on the repair order)

Keep customers apprised of work progress and maintain continual follow-up

Update customers about changes and get authorization before repairs are performed

Sell, look up, and order parts

Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and face-to-face)

Service writer experience

Parts counter experience

Strong ability to work well in a fast paced team environment

Professional personal appearance

Computer skills are a must

Knowledge of the automotive industry is required
