The Veterans Program of IDOL has an exciting opportunity for a Workforce Consultant Veterans Representative. This position will provide services for both the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) and the Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) for the Pocatello office. Preference is given to qualified service-connected disabled veterans, then any qualified eligible veteran per 38 USC, 4103A (a) and 4104 (c) and then other qualified eligible persons as defined by 38 USC, 4101(5)
An eligible veteran is a person who: (A) served on active duty for a period of more than 180 days and was discharged or released therefrom with other than a dishonorable discharge; or (B) was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability; or (C) was a member of a reserve component to active duty pursuant to section 672(a), (d), or (g), 673, or 673(b) of title 10, served on active duty during a period of war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and was discharged or released from such duty with other than a dishonorable discharge, (D) was discharged or released from active duty by reason of a sole survivorship discharge.

This position provides various services in employment and training programs, including employer and jobseeker services such as recruiting, placement, retention and case management, and to work effectively with individuals and families under stress, difficult circumstances and from diverse backgrounds, and as listed below.DVOP Duties
Aid in registering veterans in the Idaho Works system.
Refer veterans to job openings, training, and other service providers.
Assess employment barriers; guide customers in forming and meeting employability development plans.
Manage a customer caseload and perform customer follow-up.
Select, administer, and score tests.
Interpret results of aptitude and skill tests.
Negotiate agreements and sign on-the-job training contracts.
Monitor customer satisfaction, program effectiveness, participant progress, and program requirements.
Prepare reports on program participation, activity, and impact.
Provide liaison with local groups to include employer groups, veterans’ organizations, Chambers of Commerce, schools, etc.; promote use of local office services.
Outreach to locate veterans in need of intensive services.
Providing referrals to supportive services.
Promoting Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment and Workforce Investment Act services to eligible veterans.
Referring veterans and eligible person to job focused and outcome-driven training, certification.
LVER Duties
Planning and participating in job and career fairs.
Conduct outreach to employers in the area to assist veterans in gaining employment, including conducting seminars for employers.
Coordinating with unions, apprenticeship programs and businesses or business organizations to promote and secure employment and training programs for veterans.
Informing Federal contractors of the process to recruit qualified veterans.
Promoting credentialing and licensing opportunities for veterans.
Coordinating and participating with other business outreach efforts.
Minimum Qualifications: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. You must attach a resume, work history and references to your application. Experience conducting interviews and documenting information. Typically requires one year of experience OR six months of work experience conducting interviews and documenting information AND six credit hours of college coursework in which effective use of communications sills was clearly emphasized.
Experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people and individuals from varying socio/economic/cultural backgrounds. Typically requires one year of work experience assisting emotional, difficult or confrontational people.
Experience determining and explaining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services. Typically requires at least six months of work experience determining eligibility or qualifications for programs and services.
Experience preparing professional written communication. Typically requires six months of work experience preparing professional written communication, including the creation of letters and other correspondence OR six credit hours college coursework in related field.
Experience using computer applications. Typically requires six months of experience using computer applications, including experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
