Application Architect - Sales

Medline Industries has an opening for an Application Architect to lead our Sales portfolio. The role of the Application Architect is to translate business epics into secure and performant application code across a diverse application landscape that meets Medlines business needs. This role is expected to design and deliver high quality solutions for our business stakeholders and product owners. This role will be part of a global team where teamwork and collaboration is valued and excellence is recognized and rewarded. The Architect will be responsible for:

• Defining, designing, and delivering applications to Medlines cloud infrastructure using a service orientated and micro-frontend architecture
• Leading execution teams who are responsible for implementing their designs using the latest development patterns and technologies for creating java based services and Ux using modern JavaScript frameworks React
• Decomposing application functionality into independent components and APIs
• Defining Azure cloud based application architectures that enable business capabilities
• Working with Medline functional teams to ensure that the overall composition of the application landscape meets the goals of its business sponsors
• Mentoring/coaching development teams on modern web application implementation techniques
• Designing application architectures that meet Medlines standards for resiliency, scalability, security, and agility

• Work with the business, functional, and technical teams to define, document, educate, implement, and support modern applications to meet business objectives
• Decompose application functionality into reusable and well defined APIs
• Define standard methods and processes for system integration, development, testing, and deployment and ensure adoption and use of those standards
• Create detailed architectural specifications to document the architecture decisions and communicate the architecture to designers, developers and contractors in a way that is directly actionable, clear and unambiguous
• Develop and document application architectures that work within our Azure cloud instance and on-prem landscape as required
• Provide technical guidance to the project team
• Track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies to better serve the application architecture needs
• Become familiar with Medlines existing applications to support legacy application needs during the transformation
• Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architect Teams to review solution design, and any new implementation or introduction of new technology to ensure compliance with Medline standards
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project life-cycle
• Provide technical expertise in the areas of cloud application development, deployment, and support (DevOps)
• Assist in estimating the size and scope of projects on the ecommerce roadmap
• Identifies technical risks upfront and bring it to the attention of the leadership team

• Experience working as an Architect or Lead/Senior Developer defining and leading the execution of application architectures
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal team members as well as business stakeholders
• Experience designing applications and solutions for resilience and recoverability
• Experience mentoring/coaching development teams on standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Experience defining and building Services using Java
• Experience working in an API first development process
• Experience designing development CI/CD automation using DevOps tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects leveraging Agile methodologies
• Strong problem solving characteristics with the ability to think out of the box
• Must be able to work with others in a collaborative fashion
• Excellent troubleshooting skills

• Experience with developing applications for Healthcare
• Experience building application architectures for the Azure cloud platform
• Experience with modern UI technologies such as React or Angular
• Experience with Micro-Frontend architectures and server-side rendering
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related
