Assistant Manager ResidentialUnity Place, New LeafFull-Time 40 hours/week, BenefittedMonday - Friday 8a - 4:30p with on call and unit coverage as neededThe Residential/Recovery Home/Outpatient Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the administration and oversight of daily operations at all UnityPlace residential locations designed for adults with chronic mental illness. Additionally, the Assistant Manager provides supervision and support to both residential staff and consumers in the residential programs. Duties should be action oriented and avoid vague or general statements. % of Time(annually)MONITORS AND COORDINATES CLINICAL SERVICES· Will be able to provide all services provided by the Supervisor of SUD Program Technicians, Administrative Assistant, Clinician, and Admissions Coordinator.· ReviewsWorks with the admissions coordinator and Physician to get clients admitted as quickly as possible, works with clinical staff to retain clients, and to have successful discharges.· Works with admissions coordinator on the waiting list for New Leaf and Knolls; expediting, scheduling, gathering assessments from outside sources, reviewing assessments for referrals, adding clients to the waiting list, and keeping all parties updated on the waiting list. · Provides weekly and/or as needed supervision to clinical and nursing staff.· Develops and maintains work schedule for clinical staff as needed. · Monitor admissions, treatment, and discharge process.· Capable of utilizing and monitoring therapeutic interventions with clients who present with dual diagnoses, mental illness/substance abuse.· Responsible for selection and retention of personnel. · Member of the SUD Leadership team and attends all meetings unless excused by supervisor.· Is a member and participates in all QA activities for New Leaf and Knolls.· Supervises implementation of UnityPoint Health Standards of Excellence by clinical and nursing staff across both sites.· Makes recommendations to the Director of Addiction & Substance Use Disorders concerning policy and procedure. · Supervises the initiation of standardized protocols for clinical care where indicated.· Ensures that patient/client treatment care plans are individualized in accordance with the patient's/client's Bio-psychosocial Assessment and age specific needs.· Ensures that procedures and treatment occur according to regulations, policy and procedures with attention given to age specific care and dual diagnosis care. · Identifies and documents response to supervision.· Documents employee's participation in and response to continuing education.· Completes employee evaluations in a timely manner.· Will be able to provide all services provided by the Administrative Assistant, Program Technicians, Clinicians, and Admissions Coordinator.Actively participates in the planning and development of comprehensive residential services, budgets, policies, and standards.

· Works effectively as a key member of an interdisciplinary leadership team.Assists Manager in ensuring expenses meet budget and assists in securing funding for residential services whenever possible.

Assists Manager in ensuring all agency and governmental regulations for residential services are met.

With the manager, regularly inspects the living environment at residential sites for compliance with health and safety requirements. Works with other agency departments to ensure residential sites are properly maintained.

Works with Manager to ensure all consumer medications are properly ordered, stored, and observed.

Works with Manager to develop and implement residential/recovery home/outpatient programming.

Works with manager to develop menus and purchase food items for selected residential sites.

Assists in the oversight and approval of transportation as needed.

Secures coverage for Program Technicians/Clinical staff.

Evening and weekend on-call availability for crises and staff support at all Residential/Recovery Home sites

Provides coverage when Program Manager is on PTO or unavailable.

40%CLINICAL COMPETENCY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IS MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. Assists Manager with the hiring, orientation, training, evaluating and supervision of residential staff.

Helps develop and implement staff schedules to assure all sites have proper coverage according to shift needs to complete necessary consumer functions, such as dietary, housekeeping, dispensing of medications, etc.

Assists with promoting staff compliance with productivity standards, as well as ensuring accurate paperwork submission is completed in a timely manner.

20%ENSURES PATIENTS RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES FROM INITIAL CONTACT THROUGH DISCHARGE· Oversees and provides case management/ skills training/ recovery services to residential consumers.Coordinates residential consumers’ medical needs with case management/nursing staff.

· Provides assessment and clinical documentation.Responds appropriately to consumer crises.

· Ensures that patient/client treatment care plans are individualized in accordance with the patient's/client's Bio-psychosocial Assessment and age specific needs.· Ensures that procedures and treatment occur according to regulations, policy and procedures with attention given to age specific care and dual diagnosis care. 20%MAINTAINS EFFECTIVE COMMUNCIATION AND TEAMWORK STYLE WITH COWORKERS, OTHER DEPARTMENTS, OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AND THE COMMUNITY.· Actively maintains open communication & demonstrates a cooperative, teamwork style with patients, significant others, other staff members, other healthcare workers, medical staff, and community. This is demonstrated through assisting staff as needed, being providing back-up group counseling or informal counseling, making recommendations of policy and procedure updates/improvements, providing patient/ community education, answering phones correctly, etc.· Attends and facilitates multi-disciplinary staffing.· Maintains computer proficiency so that communications will be done in a correct manner.· Stays abreast of Health IT updates and changes regarding computer generated treatment plans.· Demonstrates organizational abilities through correct prioritization of duties, efficient and appropriate usage of time, and effective utilization of support personnel. · Collects required QA and reports to enter into the Dashboards. · Will assist in the development and implementation of educational programs regarding chemical and non-chemical addictions.· Will make recommendations to the Director of Addiction and Substance Use Disorders regarding the development of in-services and workshops deemed necessary to keep clinical and nursing staff updated regarding treatment approaches.· Will make recommendations to the Director of Addiction and Substance Use Disorders regarding revising and updating patient/client education programs to reflect most recent data regarding addiction and relapse prevention. · Provides on call support for staff at New Leaf, Knolls, and other facilities as assigned.20%Basic UPH Performance Criteria · Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.· Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.· Demonstrates ability to work with mental health consumers in a positive, therapeutic manner.· Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.· Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.· Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.Minimum RequirementsIdentify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.Preferred or SpecializedNot required to perform the essential functions of the position.Education:Be a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical professional counselor OR be a licensed social worker or licensed clinical social worker. Experience:Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervising or managing.Minimum of 1 year working in the field of Addiction or Behavioral Health.Previous direct clinical experience and experience as a supervisor preferred.License(s)/Certification(s):Hold clinical certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA).Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.Must have a valid Illinois Driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
