Aon is looking for a Data Architect. This role is flexible as an onsite, virtual or hybrid model position.

In this role, you will work on a variety of initiatives to ensure our platforms, applications, and services are designed and built-in accordance with next generation standards and frameworks. Highlights:
  • Work and collaborate as a Big Data Architect/Developer for Application Design, Development & Delivery Team
  • Collaborate with other Architect Group team members on design and build of key domains, applications, and services focusing on data management and services
  • Prepare strategic and tactical architecture solutions for data management related to application and platform technical implementations to support business enterprise applications
  • Guide new data management application and service modernization across technology portfolio and participate in legacy data management application migration and sunset
  • Design and build data management integrations with leading Insure Tech and data service providers
  • Design and build strategies for data acquisition, integration, analysis, security, backup, and recovery
  • Develop strategies for data modeling, design and implementation for data acquisition, retention, destruction, metadata, ETL, ODS, Marts, MDM, and EDW
  • Design, test and build physical data models for a variety of business applications to meet operational goals for performance and efficiency
  • Review current data architectures and new data management technologies and prepare corresponding improvement evolution designs and recommendations

Core Responsibilities:
  • Implement future state data management architecture designs and roadmap
  • Provide initiative specific data architecture solution options with supporting recommendations
  • Ensure alignment of project designs with data architecture roadmap
  • Define interaction between data management services with other platform application services and middleware services to optimize implementation
  • Support product, development and delivery teams on functional & technical design specifications and activities
  • Define the technical design for solutions, design POCs and prototypes and guide the solution through SDLC
  • Provide subject matter expertise around data infrastructure and applications.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in data architecture across multiple domains and become a trusted advisor to decision makers.
  • Provide solution specific expertise to support resolution of production support incidents, as required
  • Travel up to 10-20% for in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.

Minimum qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate vision and opinions with diverse teams and communicate complex technical concepts in an approachable way
  • 5+ years of deep technical experience (engineering and architecture) in several of the following techniques and toolsets: RDMS, SQL, ETL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MongoDB, SageMaker, Python, Hadoop, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Salesforce, Naveego, Cloudera, Snowflake, Informatica, Tableau
  • 5+ years of experience in all aspects of data architecture role
  • 5+ years of experience with design of data solution and systems architecture across technology portfolio
  • 5+ years of experience with technical leadership related to tactical builds for data architectural designs
  • 5+ years of direct data architect experience working with a variety of technology systems, designing solutions, or developing business applications
  • 5+ years as a database engineer, administrator, or designer.
  • 3+ years of experience with the cloud computing and both SaaS and PaaS applications
  • 2+ years of experience with digital/enterprise transformations and application modernization
  • 2+ years of experience with legacy platform implementations (e.g. AS400)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in the insurance technology market and application suites (PAS, DocMgmt, Ratings, RQB, CMS, Payments, IAM, Billing/Accounting, Data Mgmt, Microservices/APIs, eCommerce)
  • Deep understanding of the current state of automation, continuous integration/deployment, security, networking, and cloud-based delivery models.
  • Experience with legacy platform implementations
  • Azure and/or AWS experience - native and custom services
  • Expertise working closely with product and delivery organizations and related technical fields.
  • Located in Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis or remote
