Design Technician

Candidate Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for providing detailing, checking and releasing services for complex engineering CAD models, drawings and notices.
  • This position assures that the engineering changes and releases of piece parts, assemblies, groups and arrangement level components are reviewed for completeness of information, accuracy and conformance to Corporate Product and Process Standards and Specifications.
  • This position assures that newly designed parts will function properly when assembled, checks the accuracy and placement of dimensions and assures the proper use of tolerances.
  • This position is responsible for providing high-quality collaboration with engineering clients on opportunities identified for improvement or suggested changes regarding the contributor's review of the CAD models, drawings and notices.

Typical Day
  • The contributor receives a detailing, checking or releasing assignment through the Global Engineering Change process to review for completeness of information, accuracy and conformance to Corporate Product and Process Standards and Specifications.
  • The contributor will detail and check to assure that the part, assembly, group or arrangement is graphically represented with adequate dimensions, tolerances, views, material and heat treat specification applications accordingly.
  • The contributor will check the corresponding engineering change notice for accuracy and completeness to Corporate Product and Process Standards.
  • The contributor will provide detailed mark-ups of their review and will provide high-quality collaboration with the engineering client of the improvement opportunities or suggested changes.
  • The contributor will perform the Engineering Release services after a thorough review is complete and deems the package is ready for publication to downstream engineering and manufacturing process partners.
  • The contributor will perform tasks in Creo, Teamcenter Engineering, Engineering Data System (EDS), PRWB, World Source and User and other additional engineering related tools/software.

    Education Requirement required:
  • BA Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree, willing to take 2 year degree with more experience, internships not counted towards experience,

    Technical Skills Required
  • Required: CAD Modeling/Drafting skills preferably in CREO, Wild fire
  • Desired: team center engineering, knowledge of Corporate Product and Process Standards,
  • Desired: manufacturing, assembly and inspection process knowledge and strong GD&T knowledge and application skills.
