Overview:

We are business that has heavily relied on outside legal support to address our litigation needs. We are now embracing a new paradigm by moving away from traditional medium-sized law firms that have previously supported our litigation needs, and we are moving towards a more modern structure that emphasizes efficiency, effectiveness, and flexibility. Our experience with leveraging freelance talent in various areas of our work has revealed an untapped reservoir of exceptional professionals who, due to life stage commitments or personal preferences, prefer non-traditional work arrangements. We are committed to accessing this diverse talent pool to directly support our legal needs.

We are currently engaged in multifaceted litigation. Some offensive, some defensive. Major initiative involves action against a former business partner, with claims including breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, and unjust enrichment. These claims arise from unauthorized competition using stolen IP and technical assets such as a database, business model, and websites. In our pursuit of justice and reparations, we have enlisted the expertise of a valuation expert and a forensic accountant to assess the financial impact of these actions.

Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive legal support in ongoing litigation, including research, drafting pleadings, and preparing legal memoranda.

- Assist in analyzing and synthesizing findings from our valuation expert and forensic accountant, integrating these insights into our legal strategy.

- Engage in discovery processes, including drafting requests, managing document production, and reviewing evidence.

- Support trial preparation efforts, coordinating with our legal team to organize case materials, exhibits, and witness preparation.

- Offer strategic input in legal proceedings, settlement discussions, and potential mediation efforts.

- Maintain clear and effective communication with our team, ensuring alignment on case strategy and developments.

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Illinois.

- Demonstrated experience in litigation, with a strong preference for backgrounds in commercial disputes, intellectual property, or related fields.

- Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills, with a proven track record of producing high-quality legal documents.

- Organizational prowess and the ability to manage complex cases with multiple moving parts.

- Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

- A commitment to flexibility, professionalism, and confidentiality in all aspects of work.

Why Join Us:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a litigation professional who values flexibility, seeks to engage in high-stakes legal work, and is eager to be part of an innovative approach to legal practice. We offer competitive compensation and access to complex legal challenges.
