DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION:Dedicated to the Cores. Prepares equipment (example Jackson table, OR bed positions), instruments and supplies for surgical procedures for the OR. Gathers appropriate video equipment, ancillary equipment and support carts.

Completes secondary check of case carts, ensuring accuracy of instruments and supplies.

Provides sterilization support by preparing equipment and instruments for sterilization in a timely manner - flashing of instruments and associated regulatory documentation.

Coordinates, facilitates, and expedites the availability of instrumentation and equipment through working closely with the instrument room and Central Supply.

Provides technical advice and support regarding supplies and equipment.

Assists in the inventory control and related supply availability by recommending and advising as to shortages and needs. Demonstrates knowledge of the parameters of the sterilization processes and follows AORN and AAMI guidelines for sterilization.

Provides information and advice to internal and external customers regarding equipment, supplies and instrumentation availability, supply, storage, and related processes.

Provides training to new employees relating to the efficient, safe, and effective availability and readiness of equipment, instruments and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training.

Certification with a national sterile processing organization within 12 months of hire.

At least 1 year direct experience in the operating room or sterile processing.

Experience with inventory management & equipment handling.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
