- This is a Third Shift position, Located at our Aurora, IL Data Center
- Data Center Engineer is responsible for maintaining the data center and office environments and ensuring all customer server environments are secure, operational, and highly available through continuous proactive monitoring, customer support, and scheduled maintenance preparation.
- Leadership: Demonstrates ability to mentor and lead peers on initiatives.
- Takes ownership of initiatives with little to no guidance.
- Software and Hardware: Understands the backbone and hardware architecture.
- Support: Demonstrates ability to support a meeting request by setting up a bridge and video conferencing with no assistance.
- Troubleshooting: Understands how TMS works and ability to use TMS with minimal assistance. Ability to assist in project initiatives.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the various segmented business
- applications hosted within the data center and office environments.
- Performs daily computer room work planning.
- Plans and assigns VLANs onto network switches. Assigns network switch ports for activation and deactivation status.
- Works with RF Code equipment asset management system. Recording and documenting all assets into the database; Calculates fiber and copper transmission loss.
- 2+ years data center or IT experience installing and repairing server and network hardware
- Knowledge of structured cable installation (SM, MM Fiber, Cat-6)
- Excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder, and lift and move 50 lbs.
- Strong eye for detail and excellent time-management skills.
