- This person needs to know how to create a demand management “pipeline” that captures all request for work whether they be projects, small efforts or BAU.
- They must also be able to track resource capacity and match demand with capacity at a team level and show where groups are stretched thin, have capacity, overloaded, etc.
- They must have process skills, a firm understanding of demand management and resource forecasting concepts and skills and “hard” technical skills with reporting tools such as Tableau/PowerBI/Crystal Reports, etc.
- This demand management and resource forecasting capability is in its infancy and this is an opportunity to build something from a nearly “green field” perspective.
- Mid to senior level person
- strong at Excel – good at reporting
- Data visualization – not a data scientist. Show visuals of what the data is saying
- Talk to the resource managers and show why they need to do resource management.
- Why project tracking is important – how much time has been put into the project so they can improve on project forecasting
- Identify current and future needs.
- If current projects are underway, but a new project is added, identify what resources are needed and recommendations to achieve
