THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Ulta Beauty Backend Systems team is looking for a Developer who has retail business experience, passion and a willingness to learn. The candidate will be responsible for supporting, planning and coordinating functional and technical activities related to Backend Store Systems in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment. They will work alongside talented Technical Leads, Architects, Software Engineers, and Quality Engineers in our highly collaborative environment to deliver high quality solutions on time and on budget. This position plays a key role in establishing, executing and supporting business critical systems such as Work Force Management, Loss Prevention, Communications, Growth and Development and Promotional Pricing.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH ALL THIS BY:

Application Support - Assists in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications. Assists with specified procedures.
Problem Management - Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Ability to investigate and analyze problems and create solutions and preventative measures to maximize efficiencies while reducing operational expense.
Programming/Software Development - Contributes to the designs, development, testing, and documentation of complex programs from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools. Assesses own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work. Mentors less experienced colleagues as required. Contributes to all phases of the development lifecycle.
Release Deployment - Uses the tools and techniques for specific areas of release and deployment activities. Administers the recording of activities, logging of results and documents technical activity undertaken.
Requirements Definition & Management - Work closely with cross-functional project team members to gather feature requirements and translate requirements into design documents, user stories or process flows
Strategic Planning - Work with key stakeholders to understand business priorities and opportunities to drive business growth.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the design and development of enterprise-wide solutions predominantly in Work Force Management, Loss Preventions and Growth and Development tools.
Plan, track and manage software development using Jira.
Ability to translate user requirements into user stories, process flows, etc.
Perform as functional bridge amongst external vendors as well as internal stakeholders.
Review existing applications and recommend improvement opportunities.

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or applicable work experience
Experience in Work Force Management applications (Kronos Work Force Central or Dimensions is a plus)
Proficient in SQL Server skills (Developing Stored Procedures and Functions)
3+ years of development experience with SQL Server and .Net
Experience in implementing SAAS (Software as a Service) solutions
Experience in VB.NET, ASP.NET and C#.NET
Experience in Windows Server Technologies
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Able to effectively convey complicated technical information to diverse audiences
Experience in preparing technical documentation such as system architecture, functional and design documents

Able to multi-task and adapt quickly to agile, aggressive schedules

Possess a strong work ethic; takes pride in producing a quality product
Work with production support and project consultants in an onshore / offshore model
Support off-hours production issues and code deployments as needed
Minimal travel required (training/conferences)
