This Direct Hire Role as a Network Engineer in Elk Grove Village, IL will be responsible for configuring, installing, troubleshooting and repairing network and system infrastructure solutions. In addition, this role focuses on LAN/WAN administration, monitoring, and trending in addition to NAC and other security responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary engineering contact on network projects.
  • Ensure that 911 issues are resolved in a timely fashion and while open ensure that management and end users are aware of alternative 911 procedures to be employed.
  • Work with third party partners on complex network projects.
  • Provide operational management and support for complex IT infrastructures.
  • Set up and install new network equipment.
  • Identify and resolve network and related system performance problems.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on production systems off-hours (nights or weekends) if required to minimize impact to operations.
  • Administer network solutions, including Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba.
  • Administer Firewall solutions, including Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, and Sourcefire.
  • Administer NAC solution.
  • Perform network hardware and software upgrades and installations.
  • Establish backup and recovery procedures for network-based systems
  • Interface with external vendors as necessary.
  • Work with managed firewall vendor on moves/adds/changes.
  • Work with third party partners on connectivity and hosted solutions.
  • Work with other Engineers/Admins on wireless and VoIP systems.
  • Work with IT management to maintain, document and train on best practices configurations across all supported systems.
  • Provide system baseline and trending analysis across vital infrastructure components for proactive problem resolution and proper sizing.
  • This includes network performance metrics related to throughput, latency, and optimal configurations.
  • Effectively employ QOS to deliver acceptable levels of performance across applications.
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for the purchase of products and services.
  • Maintain knowledge base of current technology with continuous self-study.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Certifications desirable: Network solution certifications, including Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA track.
  • At least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified required.
  • Computer networking knowledge and experience in computer network architecture and implementation including network operating systems, network design, and directory services.
  • Network infrastructure knowledge and experience in LAN/WAN infrastructure technologies and implementation strategies REQUIRED.
  • Network infrastructure Administration experience: (Cisco routers, firewalls, switches and VPN concentrators) REQUIRED.
  • Previous exposure to enterprise NAC/UAC solutions in a work environment REQUIRED.
  • Working knowledge of multiple office LAN/WAN interconnectivity, strongly preferred.
  • WIFI Administration on an Aruba Controller based platform a plus.
  • Microsoft Windows experience.
  • Some exposure to Linux OS a plus.
  • Hands-on in a help desk environment is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, critical thinking and problem solving or troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to relay technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to write technical documentation, strongly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in the following: MS Windows OS, Network vendor solutions (Juniper, Cisco, Aruba), Network Management, Firewall Servers, Routers and TCP/IP Schema, Switching, Remote Access Solutions, Server Hardware HP, IBM, Dell, & NFS/ISCCI/CIFS networking/storage inter dependencies
  • Ability to travel to branch premises on an as-needed basis.
  • Typical Schedule, Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm.
  • Rotational Saturday work and off-hours on-call availability.
