Job Summary

Canteen, a sector of Compass Group, focused on unattended retail solutions for clients and consumers across the US is seeking a Director of Information Technology to support the Commissary and Fresh Food line of business. The Director role will oversee all business applications and related activities for Canteen's fast-growing Commissary and Fresh Food business.

This individual's primary responsibilities are to set and execute strategic and tactical initiatives supporting employee facing operational solutions. This includes the development and maintenance of custom developed applications and the configuration and support of acquired COTS/SaaS software. This is a new role to the organization- ideal candidates will be comfortable operating in undefined territory including structuring and building a team, defining, and executing strategy, and partnering with business leaders to deliver short- and long-term value.The Technology Lead's responsibilities include:

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with the business to develop and implement a strategic roadmap for supporting the fresh food and commissary business with purposeful technology
  • Understand and analyze business challenges and requirements to recommend and deliver technology solutions that drive expected outcomes
  • Build solid relationships with Canteen leadership to understand business objectives
  • Implement strategic and tactical initiatives providing continuous improvement and business value
  • Complete and manage project deliverables supporting strategic direction set by leadership team
  • Understands and leads both software development and development operations/DevOps.
  • Ensures that software development team has the resources they need to deliver software products and meet objectives, managing budgets and vendors.
  • Work to align and integrate acquisitions to a standard set of technologies
  • Works with team to de-risk objectives, estimate and size work, establishes and ensures team metrics are captured and exposed.
  • Provides direction, evangelism, oversight, and contribution to technology decisionsPassionate about delivering outstanding solutions
  • Curious about the latest technology trends and innovation opportunities
  • Comfortable in a matrixed environment with competing priorities.
  • Partners with external departments and teams to create roadmaps and ensure there is a shared understanding of product/business objectives, while meeting established technology standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Is an unflappable leader who can determine, recognize, and manage priorities, negotiate tradeoffs, and navigate business driven needs all while keeping systems alive and operational, dealing with unexpected situations as they arise.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in leading development/implementation of software products, with 5+ years management/leadership
  • Experience in production, fresh food, manufacturing, and/or distribution preferred.
  • A solid track record of the following are a must:
  • 5+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into digital solutions
  • Planning, designing, and implementing efficient IT systems to support organizational functions following Agile methodology
  • Existing management experience leading large projects and/or product lines and related change management
  • Development of user stories, application requirements, UI design and/or mockups, and/or process flow diagrams
  • Use of various requirements elicitation techniques, such as end user interviews, job shadowing, brainstorming, business process analysis and process flow documentation, facilitation
  • Creative problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments
  • Managing conflicting priorities and gaining consensus across multiple user groups
  • Committed and enthusiastic approach to supporting business customers and end users.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Special Skills and/or Training Desired

  • Knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle process
  • Training in systems used in fresh food production and/or distribution (preferred)
  • Training in Project Management (preferred)
