Your role in helping us shape the future: Be a part of an innovative, fast paced engineering group responsible for development of long-range network planning analysis with various roadmap options and the corresponding evolution of requirements for satellites and corresponding network infrastructure.

Are you up to the challenge? You will support, review, refine and convey RF planning guidance for regional and international flights and service areas. You will provide Subject Matter Expertise related to satellite modems and hub infrastructure architecture feature capability and configuration details, DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X architecture and associated planning tools. You will also provide regional recommendations based on analysis and trade studies as well as performance feedback for airlines and proposed fleets and promotions; and oversee efforts and share with other engineers' recommendations on process improvements to be best in class.

Can you drive these processes?
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding satellite infrastructure architecture and functionality for Gilat satellite infrastructure system.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding DVB-S2 and DVB-S2X architecture and functionality with potential evolution to 5G systems and architecture.
  • Provide guidance for Network Design Assumptions.
  • Provide support for budget development and allocations for all sub-regions globally.
  • Collaborate with engineering team, project managers, account teams, offer management and the management committee to share practices, coordinate trials and performance testing, and drive improvements to tools and vendor equipment/software.
  • Aggregate data collected from multiple sources, summarize, and distribute.
  • Work with corporate strategy, offer management and other teams to ensure consistency in planning assumptions.
  • Support successful completion of all projects and reports within Radio Access Technologies and Performance responsibilities.
  • Drive and attend vendor quarterly updates and technical exchange meetings as appropriate.
  • Prepare presentations to facilitate executive level network reviews and meetings.
  • Support sub-regional issue resolution and technical issues management.
  • Work with vendors to understand satellite and satellite infrastructure evolution and growth requirements. Incorporate that knowledge into a network plan options to help guide budgeting and network implementation.
  • Develop and monitor network capacity plans tracking and trending impact of capacity additions over time.
  • Provide escalation for regional and airline issues to vendors and management.
  • Interface with development in support of projects or implementations.

You should definitely have:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technology - advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the satellite and/or telecommunications industry.
  • A minimum of 3 years leading technical teams for complex issues and satellite network deployments.
  • Thorough understanding of satellite link budgets and access technologies
  • Understanding of electromagnetics/physics for the development of realizable antenna/RF designs.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering capability in programs that encompass system architecture, requirements analysis, design, production, integration, test, and transition into operations.
  • Technical competency in the following areas:
    • Satellite Modem platforms (iDirect, Gilat, etc)
    • Satellite teleport integration and implementations
  • Mastery of satellite mobility data networks, DVB-S2 and DVB-S2x
  • Expert knowledge of RAN design and optimization for satellite mobility networks using Gilat infrastructure for DVB-S2 and DVB-S2x for Geo Ku and Ka networks.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Robust System Performance and RF Design experience and have thorough knowledge of complete RAN network and associated components, vendor technologies and equipment.
  • Significant experience in Data analytics and using various metrics to make decisions.
  • Strong communication skills including technical documentation, written reports and proposals, development and delivery of presentations and the ability to listen to and communicate effectively with customers and vendors.

It would be nice if you had:
  • Understanding of 5G design concepts.
