As the Engineering Manager, you will coach, guide, and facilitate the development of a work group to develop collaborative relationships among their peers, customers, suppliers, and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. You will create and maintain an organizational climate / culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement / commitment, and a sense of urgency towards business success. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor, and coach your immediate work group, and deepen your professional network.The Kitting Solutions engineering team collaborates with product groups and process partners to evaluate and retrofit all manner of new technology and ergonomic improvements from in-process and recently completed NPI programs, including machine and engine upgrades for performance gain, emissions reduction, durability, safety, cost, and service improvement.Responsibilities:
Lead work group to complete objectives in development of machine and commercial engine upgrade offerings, installation instruction development, field/quality issue resolution, engineering solution validation, and supporting release of aftermarket parts kits
Facilitate cross functional collaboration with several internal partners – such as machine and engine product groups, ICS, CISD, and RISST
Provide leadership to deliver on accountable Kitting Solutions transformation initiatives
Supervisor a workgroup of 3-6 individuals, including coaching for overseas engineering resources
Provide direction, focus, motivation, and encouragement for team
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum or closely related technical degree
10 (plus) years of progressively responsible job-related engineering experience
3 (plus) years previous supervisory or project leadership experience
Experience working with global team
The ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time
Top candidates will also have :
5 (plus) years of experience in component or machine design/development
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)/Continuous Product Improvement (CPI)/APQP processes and tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal partners and develop/influence others
Knowledge of Caterpillar products and product applications
Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
