Join us.DescriptionThis position if for a Quality Team Leader to lead and direct quality activities to improve customer experience with hydraulic components and systems, increase reliability and durability, reduce warranty, and achieve various departmental quality targets.Job DutiesThe key role of this Engineering Specialist – Design position is to be the quality team lead for ICS Hydraulics. This position will be responsible for developing and managing the Hydraulics quality MGPP to address the key quality metrics of DPU and warranty as they relate to both internal and external supplier parts, and other metrics associated with quality. Direct work with other units, suppliers, customers, and teams requires the incumbent demonstrate skill in negotiation, building consensus, and achieving compromise. Impact of decisions made by this position may be far-reaching, to include the project team or immediate work group, division, and/or business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and Caterpillar markets.Success factors for the Engineering Specialist – Design are strong communication and analytical thinking skills, a complete understanding of the various Caterpillar systems for quality, reliability, and warranty, and an understanding of customers’ needs and product applications. Responsibilities of this position demand that the incumbent understand quality metric drivers and how to drive improvements. Though the focus of the job is analytical, project management skills may be required.Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: design and promote new products and processes; contribute to establishing strategies for new process and product programs; develop and manage the project/program to the plan; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products, perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technology to customers, team members, suppliers, and other units; and support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers.Engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. This position must develop increased technical breadth and/or depth at this level, as well as gaining increased business management skills. Additional key skills at this level include development of quality systems and processes to help visualize, understand, and identify metric drivers.Basic QualificationsRequires a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 7-10 years of experience working with quality related systems and processes.Top Candidates will also haveIncumbents must have excellent analytical skills and an extensive understanding warranty, reliability, and CPI systems developed through assignments in either product support or CPI. Requires a self-starter with strong leadership skills. Must have ability to communicate information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.Additional InformationThe primary location for this position is Mossville, IL. Tucson, AZ, Aurora, IL, and other locations may be considered for well qualified candidates.Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
