Role: Infrastructure Project Manager

Location: Waukegan IL

Rate: $75-80/Hr

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Description:
  • Leads and Managers Mainstream IV DII3 – Innovation, Architecture, Infrastructure –Project Manager

Qualifications:
  • PPM Tool experience is required
  • Candidate should be an experienced IT project manager (minimum of 8 years of experience in IT).
  • For this role, we require a strong IT PM. This PM role will specifically focus on Infrastructure projects within IT, which may include project subjects such as LAN, WAN, wireless, data circuits, teleconferencing, tech refresh, lifecycle management, and/or site moves (as examples).While Infrastructure project experience is desired/preferred, IT project experience within the space of System Development Life Cycle, Security, and/or Finance are all acceptable areas of expertise for this candidate.
  • Project Manager:
  • Will plan, coordinate, and execute on Infrastructure projects.
  • Projects will include strategy development, design, implementation, and testing of various Infrastructure solutions in varied technical domains.
  • Over the life of the engagement, there will be a mix of projects in various states; some in planning, some in implementation, and some in closeout.
  • Given the breadth of activities, candidate should be organized and excel at tracking activities to ensure dependencies are known, delays are predicted and escalated/managed in accordance with good project management practices.
  • This is a hybrid position of onsite & remote work: Candidates must be willing to commute to J41 and work onsite 3 days per week, each week, and live within a commutable distance. Fully remote is not available. Please no candidates that would need to relocate or travel from long distances for this role. Due to the potential for extension on this role, during the shortlisting and interviewing processes, we will be avoiding any candidates with inherent risk due to location.
  • Applicants must be U.S.-based and able to work full time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clarity PPM experience preferred, but not required.
  • Note: no requirement for Organization Change Management experience for this role.
  • Note: no requirement for PMP certification for this role.
  • Note: no requirement of Pharma experience for this role.

Primary Needs:
  • Position will reside within the Innovation, Architecture, and Infrastructure team at AbbVie.

  • Project Manager:

  • Strong project management skillset needed, including proven ability to lead and drive project success.
  • Should be well organized with the ability to review and track the project schedule end to end.
  • Provide execution coordination during cutover events, including planned sequence tracking, issues/risks, and escalation where required.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, able to manage a variety of tasks, and be able to communicate to leadership.
  • Will conduct meetings with project team members and key stakeholders, publishing meeting minutes.
  • Will manage weekly and monthly progress reporting, as well as tracking project financials for budget adherence.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills needed as the individual will provide updates and ongoing reporting to both the immediate team and leadership.
  • This individual will work with a matrixed AbbVie team across IAI, as well as multiple AbbVie vendors/managed service providers as projects may dictate.
  • Contract to run from candidate’s start date through 12/31/22 with potential for additional extension following proven performance.

Expectations:
  • Develop, execute, and manage project(s) within the defined scope.
  • Lead all aspects of the project lifecycle, working with project sponsors/key stakeholders, team members, and management to oversee all phases of project completion.
  • Build and manage project’s work breakdown structure, milestones, risks, issues, and deliverables within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Ensure transparent reporting of project status, issues, risks, and financials
  • The individual will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • Be able to work under general supervision.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Drive Project Success and Completion: Understand and drive leadership of the project to success. Build key relationships with stakeholders, mentor team members and demonstrate leadership at all levels.
  • Initiate and Plan Project: Works with business and IT management to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives, financials, and deliverables.
  • Project Control: Assess the degree to which changes to scope, issues and risks will affect the project, working with business and IT management and sponsor to gain agreement for resolution. Measure performance to assure the project is progressing as compared to original plan and budget.
  • Executing and Closing Project: Develops and executes a work plan obtaining authorized resources to ensure all activities are performed. Leads team in delivering project scope. Gather lessons learned and obtain final project approval from sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Project Communication: Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to project teams, business, and IT management. Makes recommendations based on current project status to resolve issues and manage risks.
  • Resource and Team Management: Coordinate resources to ensure project needs are addressed and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based upon their abilities. Motivates project team to deliver project outcomes.
  • Quality Management: Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and functional policies and procedures.
  • Decisions: Make decisions that impact project level activities.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement of Project Process and Governance: Will continually examine Plans/Risks/Issues to identify gaps in project communication or process, and holding project team accountable for improvement, to drive proactive solutions as the project is ongoing.
