We are offering an internship within our Security Operations group next summer for our program that will run from June 6th to August 12th in 2022 in Schaumburg, IL. This internship is part of our Network Security team. Below are the brief details of this 10-week opportunity.

Security Operations - Network Security

The Network Security team at UScellular is seeking a summer intern for their Schaumburg, IL. location. This group is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Security networks, systems and tools used to monitor and protect the Enterprise. The intern for this role will work with the team on completing recurring security related tasks. The intern will work on project tasks related to the implementation of new applications and systems to support the teams. You will get experience working with Splunk (SIEM), Next Generation firewalls (NGFW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and other applications and tools.

Requirements

Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Business Administration or related technical field
Experience with standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
Basic understanding of SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) is helpful
Knowledge of technology structures: networks, databases, communications systems and internet
Ability to participate and work well in cross-functional teams
Excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Previous internship(s) in security, engineering, network support, or relevant training / experience highly preferred.
Candidates pursuing degree concentrations in Security related fields such as Cybersecurity, Network Security, Forensics and Information Security Management.
Effective verbal and writing communication; excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution.
Experience with and/or understanding of, or knowledge of Next Generation firewalls (NGFW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and/or Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and the role these devices play in Security Operations as well as for the Enterprise as a whole.
Experience with and/or understanding of Splunk

Location Requirements

This internship will be offered only in our Schaumburg, IL location.
No housing or living expenses provided with this internship.
