Job Description

We are seeking a mid level IT Systems Network Engineer for a direct hire in (downtown) Chicago, IL. Inthis role, you willprovide day-to-day support and maintenance of P.C.’s server based hardware, operating systems, and application software. In this role, you will troubleshoot business critical incidents, working withstaff, IT support specialist, consultants and contractors. Youwill work directly with other IT department members, consultants, contractors and vendors as Level 1 and 2 support, escalating as needed. This role will require you to be customer focused, pro-active, accept ownership, have a sense of urgency and understand the culture and complexity of handling sensitive information. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and support applications on company desktops.
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Manage configuration, performance and maintenance of application servers.
  • Monitors all system alerts, backups, and security logs and remediate as needed.
  • Monitor backup operations and troubleshoot as needed. Will also validate backups can be retrieved and restored on a quarterly basis.
  • Assists in the daily and pro-active maintenance of the infrastructure environment.
  • Baseline systems before deployment and provides monthly reports on current performance.
  • Provide Network support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Windows 10
  • Active Directory Services
  • Backup and recovery techniques
  • Virtual server support: (VMware, Horizon, VDI, etc)
  • Exchange 2016 and Office 2016 (365 is a plus)
  • Group policy administration
  • Cisco Network Support experience
  • Experience with N-tier application architecture and design
  • Experience with packaging and troubleshooting software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as the SE is responsible for communicating technical information to non-technical customers in non-technical terms.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Experience with SCCM and/or Powershell or other scripting languages is a nice to have
  • Must have the ability to be on call,on a rotating basis, for system outages or other emergencies.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise class servers and applications
  • Virtual Server Support experience needed as the environment is virtual
  • Experience with Network Support (Cisco environment)

Additional Information

This direct hire role will be located in downtown Chicago, IL. There will be partial remote options during the pandemic; howeverthis role will require onsite visits, so candidateswho are local to the Chicagoland area (or those who wish to relocate on theirown for this role) and can commute to the office downtwonare encouraged to apply.
